Ok, so I'm finally using AI Recovery to make a backup, I downloaded the driver disk from that one link, and I put the disk in....

    "No DVD writer detected"

Ok...well...that makes no sense. But it's Windows, I'm used to things no working properly. I check My Computer to make sure my disk was actually reading. And then I discover that my disk drive doesn't even appear. Apparently my disk drive decided it was suicidal and deleted itself.

So, I need help. Where can I get the drivers to reinstall my disk drive?

    It's the G73JH bestbuy edition.

Any other options before I open up my laptop? I mean the dive still opens fine, so I wouldnt think its an unseating problem.

Can't see it needing reseating if it opens fine.

you hardly need to open the laptop, its 3 screws in all..

2 for the bottom panel and then 1 which is holding the drive

Do your bios detect it? You could also try reseting your bios if not. Use a needle to press the button under the laptop for 30 seconds.

On another note, I wouldn't mess with Ai recovery, it sucks. Use acronis or just burn your own windows 7 disk and use that and the driver disk. Together they return you G73 to stock just fine (and they work, unlike AI).

After a quick reboot (The third one overall.) It's working again....I have no idea why. But now Im interested how you would reseat the CDDrive (Normally I just pop it out and put it back in.).

And @Valkerie, so, download the Atheros drivers (Im asuming their for the wifi adapter?), use the driver downloads, and get a copy of Win 7?
Is there a legal way to download a copy of Win7 and just use the key on the bottom of my laptop?

Unscrewing and popping it out, and back in is reseating it. :)
