Hi i have a Asus G72GX laptop, and lately ill be on a browser, game or a skype call and then all of a sudden, my computer just freezes up, cant move the mouse, or type anything it just freezes and before i have to do a hard reset, when i restart it and it comes back up, but now what it does now is that it freezes for bout 30 seconds and it just unfreezes and its normal again, it would do this maybe minutes later or hours depending, ive tried everything, theres nothing wrong with the memory, ive tried reinstalling windows 7 twice, ive updated my nvidia drivers now, it would work for a while then it would start doing it again, and iam not sure if its due to overheat or something inside the computer itself, i dont no what else to do, please any help would be appreciated, if you need more info let me and ill give it, please reply ASAP!!! Thank You

how about the safe mode ??? if you are quite sure for the software issues then you should be really sure that your fan is working properly, because if your CPU is overheating then it can be happen. It seems you have already tried out reinstall windows, but if you are installing without format then it can continue,I mean installation should be clean or if you installed something else in near future try to uninstall it

i havent really tried safe mode since it can take up to many hours just for it to do it, so iam not sure on that, but iam pretty sure its running as i feel it running when i put my hand on it, and iam not sure when i reinstall windows what you mean by installing without format? when i reinstall, everything is wipe clean from my computer with nothing on it besides whats installed from the cd's, so iam not sure what else can be wrong :(

if you just put the windows cd and reinstall it, you will see that all previous program will remain such as games, but if you format computer and boot with cd then you can make a clean installation which you later have to install all drivers back.
but before all this you can open computer in safe mode should be F8 or F5 during start up depends on computer sometimes they are changing then you can see the result I mean computer working or not.

If all ok it means that some software freeze your computer and you can try to uninstall it from control panel if you can see,
but this will confirm that computer is ok

but if same thing happen in safe mode than problem can be little serious and then you can try format and reinstall again

Try uninstalling, and reinstalling C++ 2005, 2008,and 2010. It seems to fix the freezing issue for many people. make sure to update it with the the updates from Microsoft site not windows update. Update seems to screw up updating one of them costing freezing when a program tries to use the API.

Are you overclocking? I only see this message when my clocks are too high and sometimes it leads to a lock up.
