Hi there ive had my G73 for just under 2 months, and everytime i play any video game it will randomly crash.

The crash looks like either a black, blue, white or grey backdrop with grey pinstriping running vertically; this occurs at complete random.

I have updated all of my graphics/windows drivers and it still crashes.

When i got my g73 it worked perfectly and im thinking that maybe after a windows update i started having issues.

Oh and my G73 has never crashed on anything accept video games and a movie or two.

    please help.

That's what we call a GSOD. See my 3rd link for latest info.

The problem is you updated the drivers - any ATI driver after 10.1 will give you GSODs.
Use the 10.1 from Asus website and you wont have this issue.
I know its horrible having to use that old driver but due to Asus cheap hardware its the only fullproof solution weve found.

I had a GSOD when I updated to 10.6 a couple of weeks back. So I decided to use driver sweeper in safe mode to wipe out all of the ati software and perform a clean install of 10.6, and I havent been able to GSOD since. Used OCCT to stress the gpu (furmark wont run for w/e reason, but on the stock drivers using furmark id only hit about 96C) and went all night on SCII at ultra settings during the midnight launch, and everything has been good. Mine came with 9.12 but 10.6 are holding well for me.

If furmark GSODs on you youll get it again eventually in games. Dont say i didnt tell you so. So many users were happy like you but after some more gaming reported they got GSODs again.
Ive tried everything myself and wiping with driver sweeper (even deleting the entire ATI hive in regedit) is no different than just installing over the previous ones.

So i uninstalled 10.7 and installed 10.1 like you said; and well so far it works, ive played about 8 hrs of sc2 divided by 8 times ive logged off and logged back on later.

Usually i had a 50/50 chance of having my game crash and so far everything is working perfectly.

    thanks!

If your not completly uninstalling everything that has to do with ati then it is a known bug that it will show 10.7 as your catalyst version. Mine shows the same thing because im to lazy to uninstall again.

hmmmm...when i play COD4 online everything goes smooth however, it randomly "glitches" every few steps or so. I dont believe it's my ping as it was about 69 in that game.

Dont have COD4 for pc but maybe try to lower some settings and see if it clears up. Maybe someone else who does play cod4 can give some more incite into this matter.
