I've had my laptop for a few months now, and I'm just fed up with the crappy build quality I got with mine. I read how Asus is really good with this, but mine sucks.

The plastic strip on the top of the silver web cam holder is falling off on the left side.

The front of the screen case with the Asus logo on it is separating from the back on the left side

The hinges that close the laptop are loose-like

My caps lock, Shift, FN and ESC keys are all sticky without me doing anything to them. It's like the mechanism is broken so I hear a click of the key after I release pressure.

I'm out of Best Buy warranty and I'm not sure what to do. If you guys can tell me what to do or if you need pictures or video I can make some and post them here.

    Thanks

By the way, I love the laptop. Don't think I am an Asus hater or something, does everything and more.

How are you out of best buy warranty if you've only had the laptop a few months?

I have a G51 from best buy and I'm pretty sure they are serviced by geek squad now for 1 year after purchase.

I could call them and ask tomorrow... does anybody know what would happen?

Would they simply take it and ship it to Asus or what?

    Yep.

And if anyone thinks Asus warranty support is bad on it's own, imagine throwing the noob squad in as middle-men >.>

What about all the stuff on my hard-drive? Do they look through it or what?

Would it simply be easier then to just call Asus instead of Best Buy...?

Best Buy is who your warranty is going to be going through. Talk with them, they wont ship it to Asus generally, they typically will send it to one of their repair depots and see if they can fix it. Also the camera bezel is normal, they all pretty much do it, they all pretty much have a small seperation on the left of the LCD, I can pinch mine together and it will click like it is going into place but doesn't hold. Your keys shouldn't stick and the LCD shouldn't be overly loose. And I'm sorta surprised you didn't mention that the keyboard doesn't have bounce, if it does then you'll be thinking about it all the time.

Overall I think the laptop does have good build quality over others, but then again no matter how much you pay for something someone will always find a fault.

Go back to Best Buy with reciept in hand and see what they say. Worst comes to worst they tell you they cant do it and send you off.

    What a pain...

I will call and ask what they can do and if they say nothing I can live with it.

Wow man seems like you got a real lemon or just abuse your laptop like hell.
I have the G60VX and to tell you the truth with daily use it's held up really well and looks brand new.
I would return it and ask for a new one, you do have a 1 year warranty.
That is if they still have them in stock.
    Good Luck!

Thats the return period... warranty should be 1 year, go to bestbuy and give a shot... not much you can lose, just a trip.
