    I own the Asus g51-jx.

tl;dr: Spilled a bit of water, now my left ctrl and alt key isn't working. Just those two specific keys, everything else works.

The last time something similar happened, my keyboard acted funky. It always had the Windows key pressed so any Windows related shortcut that was on the keyboard would activate. It eventually went away. My keyboard had the same symptoms again this time. The Windows-shortcut problem occurred and eventually went away, but in exchange, now my left ctrl and alt keys aren't working. It was working while the Windows-shortcut problem was occurring, but now that that's gone, it's not working anymore.

Did you shutdown and dry it before turning on the computer? I hope there is no short somewhere.

Yes, I allowed it a few hours to dry. In all honesty, I thought a few hours would be enough because I gave it about the same amount of time before and it worked okay.

Is there any way to check if there is a short somewhere? Probably not, but if there are any physical indications, that would save a whole lot of time.

Also, I know I've mentioned it before, but I feel like it's crucial enough that I should repeat it.

While my keyboard was acting funky, my ctrl and alt keys WERE working. No additional liquid was spilled afterwards so that's not the issue. It was only after my keyboard started to behave normally that my ctrl and alt key stopped working.

Effects of water exposure can sometimes take a while to manifest themselves.

If your keys don't regain function within a couple of days, then you'll need to replace the keyboard. On Asus systems this is quite straightforward, and replacements usually run $20 or less.

Since this is now the second time it has happened to you --- please *stop* working near open liquid containers :).

I have a g50v rog from best buy. Where do you recommend buying a replacement keyboard? Can I swap keyboards from other G series asus laptops?

    Asus eStore, or eBay.

Most keyboards that Asus makes will fit several notebooks in a given line - but you'll need to check.
