i just bought the Asus G53Jw-xn1 from newegg Newegg.com - ASUS G Series G53JW-XN1 NoteBook Intel Core i7 740QM(1.73GHz) 15.6" 4GB Memory DDR3 1333 500GB HDD 7200rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M
and it really love it , but the only problem is , there is no TURBO MODE JUST LIKE WITH THE G73 SERIES AND OTHER GSERIES , why is that ?
is there anyway to get it on turbo mode ?
cuz if i use the turbo mode , that will help me with black ops , cuz black ops is laggy as hell :/ please help ? or anything i can do to keep my cpu at 2.8 or more ?
and can i disable the gpu second mode ? cuz it is really annoying :/
thanks in advance
regards !

I don't have time to go into detail, but with the i7 core, you're better off with the scaling that Intel has built into the chip. There are others on this forum that have documented the why and whats...frankly i think the turbo mode was more a marketing ploy by Asus. I have the same G53 as you do and black ops runs great on max settings. The game itself had coding problems early on...or perhaps you're dealing with online issues.
Hopefully you can find a solution for whatever your problem is. -
well it runs smooth , but with mini freezez , my brother have an asus g73jh bestbuy model , and the game runs jus great without any single lagg , theonly difference is that he have a TURBO option in Power 4 gear and ati 5870
i updated the drivers already , but the game still lagg , and it take like 20 seconds after the loading is over (for shader warming) and even tho it still lag after that .
PS : i upgraded the memory TO 8GB of ram if that will help. -

If you're having hitches in your frame rate, the problem isn't your CPU. Could be hard drive related. I have the same gear as you (8gb of ram here also) and have no problems, but I don't play online.
I'm assuming you have all the latest patches for black ops...I know there were big time problems (for everybody) when the game was first released with the hitching you're describing.
Could also be driver issue. The G73 obviously has the AMD 5870 mobile...whereas we have the Nvidia 460m. What driver are you currently using?
For what it's worth, here's one of the threads that deals with the turbo on/off debate:

Most people don't understand what is going on when they "enable" turbo mode and just go by what they read or hear. There is the turbo mode that Asus provides and the built-in turbo in the Core I7. The Intel turbo mode is affected by how many cores are used and if all four are used then 2.8Ghz is impossible.
1 core = 2.8
2 core - 2.4
4 core - 1.73
When the Asus turbo mode is turned on the frequency that is used to generate the CPU speed is increased to 143Mhz up from 133Mhz. What people don't realize is the multiplier changes from 13 to 12 when Turbo Mode is enabled which is a waste.
Turbo Mode off = 13 x 133 = 1729Ghz
Turbo Mode on = 12 x 143 = 1716Ghz
Temps, wattage, and voltage incease if Turbo Mode is turned on. There is barely to no performance increase especially if all cores are used. You will get higher memory bandwidth because your memory clocks are a little higher too with the Asus Turbo enabled. -
i am using the latest drivers from NVIDIA website , and no luck for me ....
what can i do ? what drivers are you using ? -
-
is 3dmark free ? and where can i check other peoples 3dmark score for this laptop ?

SORRY FOR MY BAD ENGLISH((
