Hey guys, I just recently grabbed a second hard drive to run the OS only off of. I got a 120gb 7200 rpm drive for 15 bucks, so I figured it would hold me over until I can SSD and buy a 1tb. Anyways. I don't want to lose any of my programs or anything, so i need so help.

I want the new 120 gb HDD to be the os and programs, but it is currently installed in my 2nd bay as F: Can I just shut down, use my recovery disc to install my os on my new drive? If not, can someone please tell me how I can do this.

I would also like to get the 2 partitions of my c/d drive merged without losing the data if this is possible.

If you boot with the recovery/windows 7 disc it should bring you to the partition manager when you are selecting the drive you want to install a factory installation of windows on.

Simply format the F: partition that has windows on and then select the new HDD to install the new operating system on. If you want to keep certain items then shift them onto a separate partition on your 2nd HDD and that wont be touched.

Also, on the C and D drives, you can merge them together, but one of them will have to be wiped so the other can take over its space :(

I'd suggest copying data from one part to the other then using Windows Disk Management to expand the C over the D, but you'll need to delete the D partition. :)
