I want to know, (G53SW/G73SW A1/XA1/XT1) what is the FPS on each game on MAX settings + FULL HD*** (1080P)

Assassin Creed Brotherhood(Or Assassin Creed 2, doesn't metter)
Call Of Duty 5(Or Call Of Duty 6, doesn't metter)
    Sims 3
    GTA IV
    Fable III
    Dragon Age 2
    Duke Nukem Forever
    Mafia II

I don't care which drivers you got, how old the laptop, just tell me, if you have one game at least, tell me if its ok (20+ FPS) or bad (Less then 20 FPS).
I want results with-out OC, but if you want, just say that you did.
I want to try somthing, to do, that's why I need to know. I checked at Notebookcheck.com, and... the results... are not the same... (I checked other GPU cards, and compared)

So even if you give me an info FPS of one game, just tell me, it will really help me!

    Thanks!

He specifically asked for sandy bridge equipped laptops that comes with gtx460m. Since he didn't mention BBK models the crippled ones are out of the game.

I'm still deciding whether to buy Assasin's Creed Brotherhood or Deus X:HR. At the moment I'm so preoccupied and enjoying Baldur's Gate 2: Throne of Bhaal (playing it again after 10 yrs. The best rpg, period!).

On a side note, the 460M is not meant to be used on stock clocks anymore when it comes to newer titles on max settings, 2010 games and beyond. Maybe except for Fallout New Vegas. You can play this in pure Ultra on stock clocks, looks gorgeous. I didn't have FPS when I played it but very smooth. I'm sure you can play all those titles in a very pleasing graphic setting, you just have to have the right laptop, driver and Over Clock.

wel... I have the g53sx and gtx 560m: At Crysis 2 Full HD and Full Graphic = around 20 fps. Full HD low graphic = around 30. 1280x720 Low graphic= 60fps max cus of the V-sync. 1280x720 with high graphic= 55fps.
Modernwarfare 2: FULL HD FULL Graphic maximum 200 without v-sync, around 90-120 on normal game play.

The sx have a crippled gtx560m, that's why you get low fps in Crysis 2 and Mw2.
The TC should expect higher fps with a full gtx460m.
    I'm averaging 25 fps in Extreme/dx11/highrespack with Crysis 2 at 800/1600/1600.
    Ultra drops to 19-20fps.

I can post the only games i have installed if it helps:

    Native: means 1080p

    Games
    Cod BO: 4xAA,All Maxed,16xAF - 75fps of average, max 95
    Cod MW2: 4xAA,All Maxed,16xAF - 115fps of average
Deus Ex HR: DX11,Post Process ON,SSAO/DOF/Shadows Normal,Tessellation ON/FXAA Medium - 55fps of average, max 89. Sometimes around 45fps. 900p same settings mostly 75fps of average. Goes down to 60fps if you max all GFX settings to HIGH.
Dirt 3: 8xCsaa,DX11,Very High/Ultra Mixture - Built in benchmark reports 59,7 after a few run. Average 57.6. In game skyrockets even above 75fps. Dropping to 2xAA helps to achieve 60fps Vsynched.
Dirt 2: 8xCsaa,DX11,Very High/Ultra Mixture - Built in benchmark reports 63.6 of average.

I have more games mostly racing games and rpg/adventures, dunno if youre interested in them.

Well it's easy. My oc gives me around 4-5 fps more, so from the results cut 4fps of average, there you go.

1st of all, I must thank you Kingpin for preventing me from buying the G53SX ... Thanks to your advice, Im going for SW with GTX460M

My question is about overclocking, Im quite new in this subject, so I would appreciate some general tip or link to some forum/site with these informations.

While you have quite same ntb as Im going to have, do you have some tips for clock that are optimal? Do you have also your CPU overlocked?

    Thanks 4 any informations :)

    Yo, general tips:

    - Grab either MSI Afterburner or Nvidia Inspector. The latter is more easier and doesnt have any fancy features and overclocking is pretty self explanatory. It has basic features such create desktop shortcut for your overclock, or an auto start overclock shortcut. Also it can manage nvidia profiles, but that comes handy only for SLI systems. It has a built in monitor that shows graphs based on clocks or temperatures, totally configurable.
MSI Afterburner is based on RivaTuner core, the n°1 famous overclocking and system info program.
It has a nice interface, overclocking is really easy to achieve. The most useful feature however is the ability to have an OSD, configurable, that can show directly in game clocks, temperatures, usage and so on.
I use MSI AB on my desktop since i need to access voltage control, clocks, temperatures easily while keeping everything under control.
However in my G53SW i dont need anything beside Nvidia Inspector because its really fast and easy, plus it doesnt run as a process so it doesnt take any system resource at all. Its a program that can be launched and closed without leaving any trace.
Keep both installed because MSI AB OSD comes handy when stress testing specially in the case when you need to find your most stable OC.

    - CPU cannot be overclocked, not Sandy Bridges. With 1st gen Core i7 and i5 it was possible to OC using SetFSB. You can rely only on Turbo Boost feature. However dont bother because the 2630qm althought an entry level CPU has a ton of potential and can be compared to the 920XM running at above 3ghz.

    - I would say that the stable OC to start is 800/1600/1500. Then push memory speed to 1550, if stable, go for 1600 then stop. You can start ocing your core speed past 800mhz only if youre stable.
Mine as an example is stable at 800/1600/1600 in every game i play. In some games, benchmark programs as well, im fine even with 814/1628/1625, but the driver will crash after a while, so i use those clocks ONLY for benchmarks. Difference? 1, max 2 fps. Nothing too much important, but in benchmarks every point counts.

There you go, if you need anything else send me a pm :)

Man, its realy like hitting jackpot to find someone as you. At the monent, Im still waiting for my new G53SW, expecting it to arive at tuesday/wednesday.

Unfortunately, in my country (Czech Rep.) the i7 version of G53SW is expensive as hell, so I had to choose one with i5 2410 procesor. I was quite worried about performance issues, but then I found some pretty graphs from notebookcheck showing the difference between i5 and i7 in games like BF:BC2 or SC2 and the difference was about 1-10% of FPS. Given that the i7 version is 35% more expensive here, I hope the i5 will perform well. ( http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Sandy-Bridge-Processors-Gaming-Performance-Part-II.57170.0.html)

Nevertheless Im really looking forward to this machine, Im also buying 4GB of extra RAM (to have 8GB) and considering 60GB SSD (but quite worried because of problems with W7 instalation that are experiencing some other guys with G53SW).

Oups ... I get so exited I almost forget my question. What version of SATA does G53SW have?

And why there is a 1333Mhz version of RAM, when I found on Intel page, that i5 2410M can only work with 1066Mhz?

i was thinking of getting either the G53SW-XR1 or too. i've asked lots of people for suggestions and most of them told me that there's no point in getting G53SX-A1 which is more expensive but has a gimped GPU ( GTX560 128bit version). so i'm kinda waiting for the next generation laptops to come out.

and i've got a question here. how much improvement does DDR3-1600 and DDR3-2000 rams have over the suggested DDR3-1333 ram given the CPU is i7-2630qm?

then why are quite a significant number of people using RAMs of higher speed? can't be just placebo effect right?

The 2630QM (or any i7 Gen2 chip) can use faster memory if it supports PnP. Kingston's fastest is 2133 RAM. My G74SX here has 16GB of 1866 PnP RAM.

how do i know if the cpu supports pnp? say ASUS G53SW-XR1? but on some websites the modification option states smth like
    "2nd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-2630QM, 2.0-2.8GHz, (32nm, 6MB L3 cache) (Does not support DDR3 1600MHz Ram) (SKU - X2R207)"

PnP memory support is part of the Sandy Bridge / Ivy Bridge chipset spec. So, if you have a Sandy CPU, you can use PnP RAM. (Any SW/SX laptop)

Specs and gaming clocks in sig.
Settings in Black Ops are maxed out @1080p with 4xAA/16xAF.
    Average 70-72~fps,max 95.

There you go, some screenshots taken with steam. FPS counter is on. OC is 800/1600/1600.

    Hi KingpinZ,
since you are well known here and have gaming experience can you please give me a tip. I have G73SW-a1 and on max settings in Crysus 2 my fps are hanging round 17. Putting settings down to extreme i am able to get round 20,which is playable but!? I`ve seen people having better game flow and fps up to 30 on same computer.
I clocked my gpu a little to 750 and memory to 1550(Afterburner) and have last nvida drivers.
Do you have any advise how can increase my fps?
    THANKS!

    Hi dabox,
Unfortunately Crysis 2 cannot run at acceptable framerate when set to Ultra at 1080p.
With a huge overclock such as 835/1670/1600 the best we can get is around 19-25 fps range.
You can however game at 1080p using Extreme preset, then go into advanced graphic options and set post processing to very high.
Note that still you need at least an overclock about 800/1600/1600 to get things smooth enough.

You can try this as well:
    - go into nvidia control panel and create a custom resolution of 1600x900
    - grab ThrottleStop, extract it, launch it and turn it on with the apposite button
    - use nvidia inspector to raise your clocks to 800/1600
    - launch Crysis 2, select 1600x900 resolution
    - after it changed the resolution, use "extreme" preset

See how it performs. You could even try Ultra but I guess it wouldn't be so smooth.
Also same performance can be achieved at 1080p with Very High preset; start from there and raise manually the graphic settings in advanced graphics option to what is more suitable for you.

Also be sure that you're running latest nvidia driver, whql 285.62.

Your overclock attempt is still way too low for Crysis 2 IMHO. If you're not comfortable with the cooks I've written, try at least gtx560m stock clocks, bringing the core clock to 775mhz, but keep memory at 1550/1600 to avoid bandwidth bottleneck.

Hope it helps let me know how it goes.

Hey KingP thanks for help bro!

i did as you said,OCd to 775/1550. I am able to play on extreme settings and custom resolution(1600x900) with 40fps!!!
Putting back to native resolution and keeping extreme sets fps dropped down to 25/27 which is acceptable for me and i will probably stay with those.
I always run Tstop when i play my games.
I noticed that gpu temp is 84`C,this game is really burning the hell out
    of it :)

    Thanks again for help!
    Cheers
