Just got a brand new Asus G73SW-XA1 from amazon yesterday and wanted to do a clean install to get rid of all the bloatware. My issue is i cant get past the "Setup is preparing your computer for first use" step in the Windows 7 installer.I have tried my retail windows 7 ultimate disk the copy i downloaded from one of links on this forum to no avail it still hangs up at this point.I have let it set for over an hour at this step but will not continue. The funny thing is i tried installing windows vista and it worked perfectly.Any help would be appreciated.

Bad disc burn. Did you do a CRC check on the iso before burning it?

Thanks for your reply,
Dont think it is a burn issue because i actually have a retail copy of windows 7 ultimate too that i tried and it does the same thing as the burnt copy, not sure why vista will install but not windows 7 -
Shutting it down and restarting doesn't fix the issue?
-
Did you set it to download the updates?

How do you set it to download updates? No restarting does not seem to fix it,just starts where it left off at the preparing for first use screen.Have left it now for 3 hours and still on the screen......It does not lockup because the colored graphic at the bottom of the screen is still scrolling across the screen.must be one of the hardware needs a driver or something to load usb3 or video card etc.

Has the installer EVER worked? maybe it just burned to the disk bad?

Are you following a procedure similar to the one in this link?
Clean Install Windows 7 - Windows 7 Forums
If you are, then Joeyjon is probably correct, the disk may need to be recreated.
Did you get the win 7 DVD iso from here?
