Hello all, noob here. I just need help on which 74sx to get. There's a lot of different model numbers at sites like amazon, tiger direct, etc... My budget is 1500 hundred but like I said all the model numbers are different and just need some clarification on which 74sx to order. It will be used for mainly gaming, BF3 total war games etc... thanks a lot for the help.

EDIT, Here the 3 that I'm looking to purchase. Which is the best? Sorry new to all this

If i were you , considering the link you send , i'll pick the newEgg : 2670CPU is clearly a bit stronger than the 2630 , and considering the specs , it's the 3GB version of the GPU , so if i'm right , it's the 192Bits version. There's a 128 bits version on some laptop ( less powerfull ) , but not on 3GB models from what i read.

1.5gb/3gb = 192bit...difference between the two performance wise = zero

    2gb = 128bit exclusive to best buy 17" and all 15"

Yeah, just get any model with 3GB 560m and you should be set. The higher the CPU model the better, as for RAM 8GB or 12GB is more than enough for gaming.

Whatever you decide to go with i strongly suggest get a full HD matte screen version of the G74SX with 3GB video card.

1.5/3GB GTX 560M. Really beyond that just avoid the extra gimmic stuff like a 3d screen and a bluray drive unless you really need those. 8GB ram is enough unless you do video editing (Yes, 8GB should be plenty if you use photoshop). You can always buy another 8 gigs should you need it for like 50 bucks down the road. When you get it I would suggest doing a clean install of windows and picking up an SSD as a boot drive if possible, it really speeds up your machine.

Don't even think about ram , hard drive , BR or else , if you can have the combo " 3GB GPU ( so 192 bits ) and 2670QM , go for it ".

Why ? Cause that's the only two pieces of hardware you can't change or are hard to change. Adding ram , SSD , or maybe even a BR drive ( never tried to change it ) is WAY easier and do not void your warranty ( not sure for BR , but you have an " easy acess " panel at the bottom of the laptop to change HD , ram )

    So , if you can go for 3GB GPU and 2670 , GO , don't even think :) ( even if it's 1 or 2 hundred $ more , go for it )

If you are still looking to buy one i am actually trying to depart from mine. Better specs, less price and still under warranty, barely used.

I recently looked into getting a new notebook in the same class. I ended up picking up the XT1. The negligible increase in processor and loss of the blu-ray were enough to me to justify not paying $130 more for the NH71. Though the XT1 was only $1199 last week at tigerdirect. Gotta love the everchanging prices on computer gear.

Def go with the 3GB 560m GTX I love this card. Its handled everything I threw at it so far on high settings.

I run GTAIV fully maxed and modded and I'm using 1585mb out of the 3000mb on GPU.
    Still in the green!

    Running BF3 on max settings.
    FSX on max settings
    Mortal Online max settings

Really didn't notice a difference overclocking it so I went back to stock settings.

The laptop is runs cool and quiet all eat exits out of the rear.
Even the power box stays pretty cool.
