    Hey, I have a g73jw gaming laptop, and I have the problem with the Momentus XT acting up (freeze-lag every few seconds).

    Where the heck do I disable "enable common queueing" on my Sata controller? I can't even find any sata controls. :S

    Original thread can be found here.

    This might be the solution to fix the constant Momentus XT problems, but I simply cannot find where to change this setting!?

    There are a few other threads here about your topic, one specifically in the "READ THIS BEFORE POSTING" sticky.

    Mind telling me the name of that one topic in the sticky? Wouldn't hurt when I said that I need quick help.

    Your question seems like it applies to nForce SATA controllers (pretty sure yours is from intel), most people fixed their problems with a firmware update. Did you check and try that? It's mentioned in the thread you linked too.

    Anyways here you are on the threads with momentux xt/lockup problems. Took me 30 secs to find those, dunno if it'll fix your problem though.

    Nope, read all of them :p but still the first things that came to mind, was did you do a firmware update and did you bother searching the forums for lag/lock-ups and momentus xt drives. At 9 in the morning instead of 11, i would probably have answered like DCx did. Morning isn't my best time of the day in the week-ends...

    I'm sorry for my behaviour as well. A computer that's annoying you with constant freeze-ups is a pretty big buzzkill. Many communities have failed me as well in where I thought they would be very wise about this sort of thing. I have also spent at least 2 full work days to try to fix my problem.

    * I have updated to sd25
    * I tried a forced update to sd24/sd25
    * I reinstalled windows 7 twice
    * I updated chipset drivers
    * I disabled many hardware components to rule out faulty hardware
    * I switched from battery to ac
    * I unparked my cpu
    * I parked my cpu

    I have done an endless amount of things, and I now know 100% that it's the Momentus XT harddrive.

    Yes, that is the problem. I don't have nForce and I can't install nForce either (not compatible), so my question is how do I do the same thing as the guy mentioned in that original post link when I don't have nForce?

    Trust me btw, I have checked every single little thread about this issue. There is NO solution that I haven't tried except for this one guy that claims something he can't even explain properly in that "original thread".

    I'm currently in the same situation as you. I read that NCQ can be disabled by changing to IDE in the Bios but that it would require a fresh install of windows. I need to read up on it some more before I try anything myself though.

    Nah, you make a simpe registry change in the Intel sata driber and reboot to IDE, or uninstall Intel, and use MS driver, then reinstall Intel.

    1) Do you know the exact reg edit?

    if not

    2) So I uninstall the driver from my IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers tab in device manager? Then reboot, let MS work it's "magic", and then finally install the Intel ones again?

    Go to BIOS (F2) and find "SATA Configuration". In there you are able to change to IDE.

    I have tried this but it does not seem to make a difference however. Perhaps it is different compared to the method Chastity has mentioned by altering the registry and reinstalling?

    Ninjasimo, if you will attempt this, could you please supply us with the exact drivers you will be using? I'm assuming that you have a similar laptop to G73JW.
