So mucho =(, I installed Alcohol 52% on my G53 the other day, it worked fine after a reboot, was able to use the .iso file I wanted to use. But then all of a sudden (maybe 15-30 minutes after) the machine reboots.
Ever since then I can't get it to go into windows, I've tried safe mode, just also blue screens on me whenever I try to log in, I can't say for sure it was the Alcohol software, but either way its really . Because now I'm going to need to reinstall.
I'm not sure if there's another "hidden/default" user profile I can try to see if its a win corrupted user profile or possibly it was just the emulation software I installed. Everything I read about the software said it was fine to use on win7 x64. so I dunno.
So with some problems to start with I looked over http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus/122632-asus-info-booth-read-before-posting.html#asusrecovery and it seems my restore process is a little different to what is in that screen.
I'll go over step by step to what I'm doing, and hopefully you can tell me where I went wrong/what I need to do (I think I might have to only load some drivers or something for the HDD but not really sure what the drivers are called).
1 press power button
2 @ Asus logo screen > F9
3 > Enter - windows loading files
4 - System recovery options select keyboard input method - US > Next
5 - System searching for System Recovery options
6 System recovery options 2 options a) use recovery tools to help fix problems starting windows (I tried this and it came back and said it couldn't fix it) b)restore your computer using a system image that you created earlier
Now at this point under Operating system it comes up with Windows 7 Home Prem (recovered) - Partition size almost 180GB - Location "(EOS" Is that just massive for a recovery partition? maybe I'm reading it wrong it says "178850 MB" nothing else is listed
It says if my OS isn't listed to Load Drivers for my HDD. I'm not sure what the drivers are called, I've had a brief look through the Asus CD's. As I've been through the other options I'm guessing I need to load some SATA drivers to proceed.
Can anyone let me know what I need to know to continue?
Any other advice appreciated.
Many thanks
P
no one any ideas what the SATA drivers/location of them are called?

Damn..
Ok so why is this that hard!!!!
After that I have 2 catelogue files one with about 15 different drivers in it and the other with about 10. I was just trying to load random drivers to see if I could guess which one is right, and I got another blue screen....
Should this really be that much of a pain, I love this laptop, but !!!!!!
I can't imagine all users would need to go through such a tedious process to load default setup, which is a pain in itself cause I have to load all my personal stuff/config again...
Any help would be appreciated, I guess I'll need more than a little pointer in the right direction.... -
I don't know what you're referring to about the drivers, but..
Most people have machines that are functioning properly, unlike yours
I personally can't help you with the F9 restore - I have no experience with it as I never use it and I always remove restore partitions.
I use Acronis True Image to keep backup images of clean installs (after my apps and setting preferences are set up). With that I can easily restore a system drive with a reboot and a couple mouse clicks.
I would grab a Windows install disk (or download an ISO for one and burn a disk) and just re-install. Windows should NOT need the SATA driver to install - Windows includes a suitable driver that works fine. -
I swere, you think with newely built awesome machines things like this would be a thing of the past.... Appreciate you'r reply. I'll work something out.
I do have an image or least a downloaded iso, just haven't burnt it. heh =) -
well has anyone experienced problems doing a default install? Any help with that?
It seems silly this is so unfriendly... Reading the post it sounds easy!
What is exactly meant to happen/process etc for asus default reinstall?
thanks. -
still no love.. im in contact with asus, maybe they can help... =( on response time....

I understand your computer won't boot at all, but if you have another computer to burn disks, you can use the steps here to download a windows 7 DVD and reinstall using that, then just download your drivers from Asus. As another said, you don't need drivers to install win7, it knows what to do.
