Hello forum members and thanks for reading this post to help me out![]()
OKay so this is the situation i currently have a asus G73JH-BST7 i have 8gb of corsair 1600mhz ram and a 128gb samsung ssd which are the only things ive upgraded. Now i was offered by a friend a trade for a G73SW-XT1 and he told me i would keep my upgrades. Now i need the communities opinion is this trade worth it the two noticeable things i will be getting is the new sandy bridge which will allow both my ssd and ram to run at full speed since the g73 has the old bridge and limits the ram to 1333 mhz and the sd card to half the performance. and the 1080p screen which my laptop has 900p. the only trade off im afraid of is the gfx card which im going from a 5870 to a 460m. so what do you think are the trade offs worth it is the video card that much of a difference on the sw? and i also now i will be getting 1 usb 3.0 port. so let me know community i would like your opinion on how the sw would run in battlefied 3 and counter strike source thank you![]()

You should go with SW , its better and more performance increase.

Sounds like a steal. As far as gaming performance is concerned the SW should be pretty much identical to the JH.

IMO depends on the game you're gonna play.
The card are kinda the same , but some games are optimised for AMD cards , other to Nvidia.
For ex, you should try games that will push the card to it's limit to see how they play ( BF3 for ex , is optimised for AMD card , maybe on 1080P the 5870 " can " perform better than the 460M ... )
If you're not use to plug on an external screen , going from 900P screen to 1080P will give you a nice feeling on desktop and internet browsing ( also ingame on low demanding games ) , while on heavy gaming you'll get a heavy performance drop, and playing on 900P on a 1080P screen will make your game uglier than on a native 900P screen ... )
I still take the same exemple, but if you plan on playing League of Legend with such a low card , you'll be enjoying the HD screen while playing BF3 on 1080 will make your experience worth because of the frame drop ... -
This is not a hard choice to make. Everything on the SW is similar or better. 2X faster CPU, faster hard drive, DDR31600 support, SATA3, similar graphics performance, 1080P screen, USB 3.0, better touchpad buttons, etc. If you're running a nonnative resolution on an LCD then set the scaling options in your graphics card's control panel and that should sort out most of the blurriness. But it may actually be beneficial to run at a resolution just below the native (e.g. 1600x900 on a 1080P panel) because this will give you some free "antialiasing" courtesy of the slight blurring caused by the monitor's attempts at rescaling the image, not to mention a pretty significant FPS boost.
As for the 2 games your were inquiring about, the SW should be able to run BF3 pretty well on high settings at 900P and medium settings at 1080P. At least those are the settings I feel are most playable on my JH without sacrificing image quality. Either laptop will absolutely destroy an ancient Source engine game like CSS. I max out the game and still consistently hit the frame rate cap (300 FPS) during games, so CSS should be the least of your worries.
Need the communities opinion on this trade
