If anyone using the stock video bios is unable to update Catalyst Control Center from the stock Asus 8.863 to a version provided by ATI without getting GSODs there is a new driver on ASUS' website that may be as stable at 8.863.

I've updated and this is the only other version besides 8.863 that came on the Drivers CD that work. Also gave me a small boost in the Furmark benchmark.

erm.. the link is dead, and 10.1 is old as dirt. 10.6 is available.

And yet, 10.6 isn't stable on all asus systems.

Updated the link. I know 10.1 is old, point is, some people can't run it. Just installed and this is the only other driver that works for me. Also got a small boost in Furmark benchmarking.

Are you sure there were two realeses and not just a beta then a full release? Either way, whatever is posted on the AMD website right now under 10.6 doesn't work for a lot of people, myself included. This does.

a leaked 10.6 back in march/april, thats what I heard.

I dled 10.6 before and had issues. Fixed it with oc my gpu. Had to reinstall my ati drivers again cause my noobish brother hit the update drivers button and it did update which I was shocked about but then a bsod happened so I had to dl and reinstall 10.6.

next thing I noticed, had options I've never seen before on the catalyst ctrl panel and an animated image when adjusting settings. and now all my 64 bit programs are working.

me? no diea what ur talking about

does CCC automatically adjust clock speeds?

because i set powerplay to maximize battery then it sets the clocks to 300/1000 then after half an hour or so it becomes 500/1000 according to AMD GPU tool and GPU-Z

This 10.1 from Asus has been available since April, and is quite known on this forum. I even have it linked in my GSOD Fixes and Resource thread. :)

And yes, it's as stable as the stock drivers.

Basically, If you don't want to overclock your GPU and having issues running other ATI drivers, 10.1 is the driver to use.

No, not to you, overall to every1 who is using 10.1. When I intalled it was not WHQL+DirectX couldn't read it's release date (not to mention that instead of Mobility 5870, it marked the card as 5800 series).
