    Hello !
It seems that Asus is about to release it's new 15" laptop !

it's appearing in some swiss websites.
It's apparently using a similar config that the G750:
    -i7 4700Hq like it's big brother..
    -16gigs of RAM
    -750Gb HDD (7.2k i suppose)
    -GPU ? I expect nothing less than a GTX 760M (860M may be ?)

The prices start from 1100€ to 1300€ for the same model

Will be nice to see them release a 15.6" gaming model again.

From the pics doesn't seem to be using G750 like cooling scheme with dual vent stealth look, not sure if that bodes well for cooling, in which case I would go for the 17" big brother without hesitation .

My guess is smaller machine with 860m class to compete with the smaller 15 inch machines.

I'm with Meaker on this. If it has an 860M and good cooling, It will definitely be a good buy.

Looks like it's a copy of the N56JR in stealth black with red exhaust.
The N56JR was kinda the 15" lower end gaming laptop with the gt760m

may be it's just a modified n56jr, still its doesnt throttle and handle very well the heat max 85 or 87° on 100% load stress test is very impressive :)
Seems like they are gonna give an external subwoofer with it..

Wish they just put the 860M in a 14" laptop like the G46 and upgrade the screen, still puzzling as to why they discontinued it so quick.

I'm waiting for the 860M in a nice 15.6" gaming/multimedia laptop with good thermals that is relatively compact. I wonder if this will be it.

    +1
Want a 14-15.6" inch gaming laptop as well, 860M or if there will be any 865M then that would be ideal.
Would like a sleek and light gaming laptop so hopefully there will be a few options later on.
Kind of ambivalent if 13.3 would also be good, going to use it for school so weight, batterylife and size are important factors, when I get home I'll hook it up to an external monitor. Hm.....

The new clevo 13.3" w230st will have 865 and qhd display so that would go in the thin and light section.

The G56Jr will definetly not enter the category of "slim and light" as it looks like it will be the same chasis as the N56Jr with different color scheme making it weigh in at aprox 2.7kg and 3.5 cm thickness

I said relatively. I don't expect the 860M in any truly thin and light laptop (except some weird ultrabooks with awful thermals/noise).

I checked the Clevo (13.3") you mentioned (I think) and it says that it is:
2.1kg (incl. battery but excl. the 0.5kg power-supply) and 3.2cm in height (thickness).

2.7kg (guessing this includes battery but excl. the "brick") and 3.5cm in height (thickness) for the 15.6" Asus does not seem to be too much of a "step up" when you gain a 15.6" monitor instead of 13.3". Thats of course how much you value size but in terms of thickness and weight (at least in my book) its not too much of a "step up".

Or what do you guys think?

Sooooo, they take the N56JR, Paint it black and red, puts on an ROG logo and sells it for waaaaaay more than the N56JR. Good deal for Asus!

That is my bet! And I Guess it will have the GTX860M, anything more will probably cause too much heat for the cooling system.

I have the N56JR and is very happy with it, but the price is just right (slightly above clevos), anything higher and it wouldn't be interesting.

    Edit:
This newspost claims that the GPU is GTX765M. http://news.laptop.bg/novini/eksklu...ki-tsena-i-poyava-v-balgariya/comment-page-1/

Makes sense since GTX760M and GTX765M is the same chip, only different clockspeed.

Probably low profit margins I'm guessing, or maybe the G46 didn't do too well in sales. Makes no sense to me because the G46 was probably one of their best designs.

And that repaint job is probably coming with a hefty price tag compared to the N56JR! Anything with the "G" letter usually cost more for no real reason.

it's a shame they didn't put sli in the machine or at least a premium graphics card like the 880M,870m there unfortunately just rebranded graphics cards. An ips screen could be a norm for the G series since MSI and every other gaming company has ips screens including their 17.3' gaming notebooks.

If the 860M is maxwell based it was worth refreshing it with that to make it a new model.

If you can name any 17.3' gaming notebook with an ips screen I would be very happy. But I think there is not one 17.3' notebook on the market with ips (apart from some very expensive and older HP business notebooks with high gamut displays). :(

You may want to double check that, I am not aware of any IPS screens on MSI computers. We typically don't see IPS screens because they normally have a slower response time then TN panels. IPS are nicer for color accuracy and viewing angles, if they made them as fast as TN then we'd probably see them more often.

Well it's available for pre-order already in Singapore. Some people here in Asia already owned it as I saw pics of it in the net, just no review about it yet. As far as other laptops from ROG Asus I have no idea when been trying to find info about it and if they'll even release a 14" specifically this year can't find one.

Uhh and it's just really a repainted N56jr.. It's a ROG there should be alteast something different. They could have adopted the dual vents from the old series for better cooling. The only enticing part is it's ROG and it's build quality is sure to be above average.

Wow Asus is falling way way behind. Razer and Clevo just refreshed themselves with 800m series plus new displays.

We need Asus to step it up in the 14-15.6" range again because not everyone wants a 17incher.

Come on Asus, do a G46 with the same dual silent cooling with gtx 860m Maxwell and a 1080p IPS panel.

That is the sweet spot at the moment and while there is more competition in that segment than before i think asus would do well there.

Actually they should really do a GTX 870m to compete with the Razor 14... the 870m is a much faster! If Razor can do it, then Asus can def do it! Sell me a G46VR with a 4810QM, 8GB of Ram, GTX 860m with a 500GB 7200RPM HD and a 1080p screen at 14 inch with 6 hours of battery life for 1300 bucks and it'll sell like hot cakes... I really do like to pay extra for a cool/quiet laptop. I currently own a G46VW and it's perfect.

It's better to have a more efficient design with the 860M though really, the 870M is going to require a really loud machine, true it's 30% faster but it will draw far more power than that on top to give it.

A properly designed system will find better balance from the 860m.
