Recently on ChinaJoy Asus just showcased the new successor to the old ROG G750 series - THE NEW GFX70JZ
    DUN DUN DUN DUN!!!!
I'm actually glad that they didn't just go with another boring name like G760

So far, aesthetically it doesn't look too different from G750 series and the current specs upon release would be a 4th Haswell processor along with the GTX 880M.

BUT, according to rumors from Cloudfire, GTX 980M will be released in october so we might even see that inside the all "new" GFX70JZ

This bad boy's heat sink is a pure beast

look at how thick that heat sink is

one of the largest copper heat sink I've seen

    the "ultrabook" comparison

see I love how usually we have a coin comparison for thin and light ultrabooks and now we have a coin comparison for just the fan

keep in mind that a 1RMB coin is larger than a quarter

MSI's GT72 adopted a "new" cooling setup that really only met last year's standard, when they knew already single fan cooling won't last long. Asus here got a whole set of big mac heat sinks

this thing is just a pure beast, asus has now put out much pressure on Compal who designs for AW and clevo with this new bad boy

this is kind of too much of an overkill if we consider how next year maxwell and broadwell will have reduced heat, but who knows, better to play safe than sorry

Thats a beastly cooling system, probably why Asus G series consistently has some of the lowest temps out there.

Yep, that's the same system in the current G750.

Either they have changed the PCB or that is not an 880M. As far as I know the 780/880 don't have circuitry between the ASUS logo on the board and the post. However I can't find a pic of the 880M, only 780M.

I think they changed the PCB since the G750 series has a different heat pipe setup

I don't think so, it might as well just get a 4860HQ, hell, just go with a 4940MX. from the heat sinks we know nothing is too much for this machine and we know many complained about how last gen their flagship model only came with 4700HQ which is just disappointing

I don't think so, but I can see where you are coming. these are claimed to be "successors" but from the outside it does look almost identical to g750jz. afterall it could be just a facelift, but we'll have to see

and if you check out the bios for this you can see there are support added for 4860hq which the g750jz doesn't have.

In Finland we have G750jz already with 4860hq.

As far as I read, there is a slight difference only between 4710hq and 4860hq. So I chose 4710hq.

Found pictures of the 880M and yes I think you are right.

The MX series CPU can't come in BGA.

thats indeed the "haswell refresh" the last bios update was talking about. here in holland they also sell those g750jz witht he 4860hq with iris pro graphics chip. for the rest its all the same. I didnt want to spend that 370 euro or something like that just for that cpu upgrade

It would be nice if intel made a 48xx cpu like the 4710mq with the same pad arrangement. Makes it tricky to offer anything else.

Good morning guys, this is my next bad boy, had the Lenovo y510p but the front sharp edges are killing our hands and wrists, yes we could rub them down but that would have voided the warranty and the GT755M SLI gets so hot you could use this as your main heater in your home in a bad winter.

Good cooling protects components period and this comes at a weight cost.

Just getting the JM version as the difference between 4710 and top spec CPU is only 9-15% so in real life you wont see the sense of it after purchase other than bragging rights.

Not a huge gamer so the 860m will last us years to be honest!

One thing that no-one seems to say about any ASUS G750 is how much they hold their value on the second hand market worldwide if you can afford the postage costs of delivery......

Bottom line when spending this much money on a gaming rig the last thing you want is burnt legs and fried components so having an extra kilo on your lap is no big deal and is the same weight as our old Acer Ethos 18.2 inch and zero cooling...lol

Samsung should have kept the Chronos 7 series updated but their on-board SSD and video cards was its weak points.
