Hey all,
I don't know how many have caught this.
But if you go to Asus downloads support:
ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support-
Choose "Notebooks" under the "select product" tab and then choose "Apps" under the "select series" tab, there'll be a host of software apps for all Asus notebooks.
If you choose "AsusDVD" you'll see it's a new Blu-Ray software suite posted on 7/16/10 which has a bundle of PowerDVD 9 ultra that will play Blu-Rays, PowerDirector 8, Power2Go, PhotoNow and Label Print.
It seems to run more stable for me than my purchased PowerDVD 10 ultra which is frustrating, but I'd expect no less from as shady a company as Cyberlink.
I honestly can't tell the difference in quality between PowerDVD 9 and PowerDVD 10 other than the 3D capabilities which currently I have no use for.
For those that have been looking for true Blu-Ray software, it can now be found at Asus support site.
Again, it's called AsusDVD.
Cheers to those other members that pointed out looking under the apps tab for notebooks on Asus support site before. It's how I found this software bundle which seems to have posted only roughly a month ago.
Again apologies if this is old news.
Peace!![]()

THX5334, This is a great improvement over what came with mine (winDVD8). I have been using it for a few days, and it does what I need. I do not see an option for updates, just upgrading to version 10.
IT also hijacks your file associations but this is easy to remedy in Win 7 -
I think someone else might have posted it, but still thanks for the post. I think it's a good move by ASUS to remedy the G73 blu-ray situation. Unfortunately, some folks already purchased software. (Mine didn't come with a BD player, so I didn't really expect any software from them.)
-
Can you maybe post the exact version number of asusdvd?
I just wonder before I start the really slow download if it's newer than my installed version. -
any updates?my stock version is 9.0.2311.
-
When this app finishes d/l'ing, or should I say crawling, I'll post a mirror link.
THX5334: How is your PDVD 10 Ultra unstable? Mine plays just fine. -
-
I've downloaded it twice from the "China" mirror, which has a much greater bandwidth than the others for some reason. Problem is, two of the CAB files within the .ZIP appear to be corrupt (according to WinRAR). I thought it was just my download so I pulled it down a second time, and the results were the same.
Looking for a mirror of a version that passes CRC checking.
EDIT Re-downloading from the Global mirror at god-awful speed. -
^^^^^^Good Call, I always use the Global Mirror (usually overnight) for anything over 100 Meg from ASUS.
PATO, PowerDVD 9 v 9.02829.50
when you look at the ASUS site it is listed as ASUSDVD 7...... ??? -
I'm trying to get the P2P torrent client thing to work. I was hoping I could use it to hash and fix the broken file from the Chinese mirror. It doesn't work, because the system lacks a .torrent file. Bittorrent DNA is a whole different approach that follows the same model as traditional torrents, but using the HTTP request for a normal download rather than a .torrent file. As such, no hash seems to exist. More importantly, the P2P client is running no faster than the Global mirror.
We need a mirror. -
zomg slow torrent ist slow
-
I switched back to 10.7a and you're right, it works great.
This for me, is now the downside to using the stock drivers.
Plus as the software bundle comes with PowerDirector 8 for free, as non professional as that program probably is, it still looks like fun to play with.
I have the file. Is there a simple way for me to upload it and post a mirror? I have to admit I'm not very savvy at doing such things or uploading torrents. But if someone can walk me through it, I'm happy to take the time to post the file.
I normally use the Global site but it was crawling to 10kbps so I used the China site and got a measly 100-300kbps and it took a little over an hour to download.
What I'm frustrated with now, is the software is all bundled in a nice little suite and has a decent interface with a link to upgrade to PowerDVD 10 and keep it all under one "hood" so to speak. But the upgraded version I bought, won't recognize it, and has to exist separately. It's a small thing, but annoying. I'm hoping Cyberlink can provide a fix. -
Did anyone finish downloading that file and can mirror/upload it somewhere?
-
Thanks for this great piece of information! If somebody hasn't noticed, there also other new official Asus app versions like P4Ghybrid 1.0.38, *Synaptics driver 15.0.11*, Fastboot 1.0.6, Wireless Console 3.0.17, Express Gate Utility, Control Deck 1.0.8 and AI Recovery Utility 1.0.10.
I know most of this stuff is just bloatware but I guess that P4Ghybrid and new Synaptics driver at least should be of interest to some people. -

Hi everyone,
I downloaded using Asus p2P and uploaded here AsusDVD
"ASUSDVD_BDDVD_3in1_z702815.zip"
Hope it works for you.
(OK so my link changes names when I post it... but it's legit!) -
Another slow link lol [palmslap]
-
Too bad... it's a very fast download for me... you're in the US?
There's likely an geolocation on it that reduces badwith for outside Europe...
well, I tried... give me a "fast download" server and I'll upload it. -
-
I cant find this on the website? Anyone got a link?
-

-
Took me like 4 days to get a stable download without any errors. That last link from our european connection was also slow to the US here. (I'm on a 100mbit internet line) But at least this file has finally made the journey to the Americas!
-
fast link, thanks Chastity!

BTW, is this trialware? Does it expire?
The one that came on stock clearly expired after 30 days. This one I installed and has no message. -
My stock one didn't bring a message, but I also didn't have it for 30 days. Yesterday I replaced it with the new one here (installed the new over the old), no message either.
-
I just popped a blu-ray disc to test it out. Works great but I immediately got a message proposing that I upgrade without delay.
At least for G73 sold in France, the PowerDVD 9 is trialware. Though this time I didn't see anything saying when it will expire. -
Are you sure it's trial and not just asking you to buy the upgrade to version 10?
I sometimes get that popup, but I can simply click it away. -
after some time, I noticed the version that came preinstalled would not start, I would see it flash and go, I went to the install directory and cliqued direclty on the program and it showed me a "your 30 days are over" screen.
However, this latest version has no sign of a timer at all... I'll have to wait another 28 days to be fully sure. It nothing pops up, it will mean it just wants you to upgrade to the paying version.
At least for now it works very well.
