Hey guys,
Please excuse my noobness, but I just picked up my first SSD (Crucial M4 120gb) and a new laptop (Asus G53sx). I want to make sure I do everything correctly. Please correct me if anything looks wrong.
1) Install the SSD using this guide ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/asu...bling-g53jw-installing-second-hard-drive.html) and move the hdd to the other bay.
2) Install windows 7 home on the SSD and make the hdd secondary using this guide ( How to: Setup SSD boot drive with secondary Hard disc optimization). Also, since this is my first SSD drive ever, I'm guessing the purpose of having one is to move windows and video games on to it and to leave other files on the secondary hdd, right? Thanks!
3) Install all of the drivers using this guide ( http://forum.notebookreview.com/asu...rivers-everything-you-need-fresh-install.html). Are these the correct drivers for my g53sx?
Anything else? Thank you!

1) ok
2) May vary depending on who and where you ask
Here is another way to move the user folders: http://forum.notebookreview.com/win...gramdata-folder-separate-drive-partition.html. After moving user folders, create the Program Files folders on your HDD and voilà you're done.
3) All the drivers you'll need are here: G73/74/53 Series Driver and Application Reference. Some drivers will be the same as the SW, some won't. You can also get the drivers directly from asus' support site: http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=G53SX&p=3&s=282.
Don't forget to update windows and install your AV before you go diver hunting on the web, or download the drivers to another drive before installing the SSD.
4) Do a system image once everything is set up so you have a backup in case something goes wrong. -

For formatting the HDD, you can either do it using window's disk management utility after popping the windows 7 disk or flash drive or you can burn yourself a gparted live cd and format the drive before installing windows. Make certain to format it in NTFS.
If you have data on the hdd that you want, i suggest you back it up first. You should know there is also a recovery partition that hidden on the hdd. you can either leave it there or remove it. If you remove it, i suggest making an image of that partition before deleting it, just in case you ever need to put it back on the HDD. -
Hello, guys - I am about to be in the same boat myself with an incoming G74 and an Intel 320 SSD.
My question is whether it's possible to utilize the USB 3.0 port with my USB stick to install Windows 7, under the assumption that this method will lead to OS installation that's 10X faster!
On another related note, my G74SX will come with 2 HDDs - is it same to assume that my Intel 320 can utilize both the same HDD bracket and cable (I am assuming it's going to be a SATA one) that's attached to the stock HDD? Thanks! -
Question 1: I'm not certain it would work, besides you'll need a USB 3.0 flash drive. Using a USB 2.0 flash drive in a USB 3.0 port won't make a difference. There are also no native drivers for USB 3.0 in windows 7 so i don't know if it would work at all.
Question 2: All drives are 9.5mm thick drives, they will fit. -

Guys, i have bought G53SX-XN1 which is with 500gb hdd (normal momentus). recently i bought momentus xt (500gb) hybrid one and installed it in primary slot. I have installed my windows 7 64bit and all the program in it and the other one i am using for normal storage. what i need to know is, shall i move my primary hdd (momentus xt) to secondary slot and 2nd hard drive to primary slot for better performance or the way i am using now is better. my laptops produces sound which can be heard in quite environment or at night time. it's frustrating.

Hi guys,
I have pretty much bad experience with M4 Crucial 128 GB SSD.
I am owner of G53SX-NH71 laptop .Currently i am not running any OS because my SSD has fail.I try to upgrade laptop with new SSD and i choose Crucial.I can,t boot windows, can't read SSD in BIOS,getting BSOD on boot ...so i think that this SSD can't work together with Seagate Momentus XT 500 GB SATA III (this drive came with laptop inside).
So i try to use SSD only for OS ,second drive will be for games, etc.
Also let me know did somebody had issues with cracked version of Windos 7 x64 Ultimate?
Any help will be more than appreciate.
Thanks
