I just received a new g73jh and it seems to be working perfectly and has no dead pixels in the display. However the rubberized coating on the palmtop has a small approx.1mm tear at the front edge. Should I return it just for that? What would you do? Has anyone one of you had similar problem with your new G73?
-
If its something that is going to bother you then i would certainly return it ..
If it were me it would be back in the box already .. You paid for a new machine and it should be in perfect condition... -
Yeah I'd get a replacement, that would annoy me. Call your reseller or whoever sold it to you immediately and ask for replacement. Don't wait any longer, longer you wait, the more likely they will say it's user caused issue.
-
Back it goes. Dont start off under par
-
Here are some pictures:
ImageShack Album - 4 images -
Its small, but i would still send it back
-
TBH, if it's working perfectly, and the temps are low, and no dead pixels, and no keyboard lag.. I'd live with it.
-
Otherwise 100% perfect.
-
Then I'd keep it. Think of it as a battle scar!
-
If you have a fully working g73, keep it.
You don't know what you are going to get in the next g73, just like a box of chocolate -
That's what I'm afraid of if I return it and get a new one. I'm more afraid of dead pixels than anything else. Of course I could return that too, but jesus christ I'm tired of this return-exchange game.
-
I hear ya. I currently have one side of my lcd that seems to be letting in little dust particles, and they all are in the same area. You can only see them if you look really closely at the screen like 2 inches away. If you sit from a normal distance you can't see anything even on a white screen. Meh. Nothing is perfect.
-
So basically it has been like that since you bought it. Man, I just don't know what to do. It's not a big deal since the tear is so small, but it's still a bummer. On the other hand the next one probably has even more issues knowing my luck.
-
I barely can see the scars of your laptop.
-
i would keep it since its that minor only. as other people stated. better to have a laptop thats working right but with a minor scratch than get a perfect looking one and it GSOD on u every time u blink. think about it.
-
You mean my g73 with the tear? So you too think I should keep it?
-
My one has already a mark of my watch over the palm rest area, but since the rubber surface is nice, is still barely visible.
Also, you seem more worried about the LCD dead-pixel than the rest of issue affecting the G73. -
Yes dead pixels and hardware problems are my number one concern, but the tear is annoying too especially since it's not my fault and it's a brand new laptop.
-
I'd return it unless I needed it urgently for class/work. If you have an alternate computer, then by all means, return it.
-
Considering your still talking about it after all the comments you have received i would say return it ...
Its clearly bugging you to no end and its not like it will all the sudden stop ... -
I don't need it urgently, but I hate the exchange game to no end.
Indeed, I'm trying to convince myself that I can live with it. Maybe... -
If you have to convince yourself you can live with it then really you cant
..
I do understand the whole exchange game though since i have been through so many laptops in the past year it would make your head spin .. -
if you bought it online, then ya id be able to handle that. but if you got it at best buy then return it
-
I would keep it. Its pritty simple to scratch something with a laptop, and you would feel silly if that happened after returning something like this. On the other hand you cant get pushed around by companys and if you think its going to interfer with selling it down the road thats something to consider. Ask asus for a 50 dollar coupon or something, see what they say.
-
I bought it online which means it'd take about 1-2 weeks to get a new one.
I'll probably e-mail the store I bought it from and see what my options are. -
lol you could have (I'm not saying you did) cause that just by unpacking it and having a ring on. If it works 100%, don't return it.
-
I didn't cause it. I don't wear rings or a watch and I'm -very- careful with my hardware.
-
Run Furmark and post back with max load GPU temps, then run OCCT 3.0 LinPack and post back with max load CPU temps, let us know if it GSOD's and then I'll tell you what to do lol
-
Well, I decided to return it. Let's just hope the new one is flawless.
New Asus G73JH should I return it. Opinions wanted!
