Briefcase computer. AIOBI (All In One, Batteries Included). Pull it in a case with wheels like many business travelers.

    At 16:9 (1.78) aspect ratio, 23.8" diagonal is ~20.74" × ~11.67". With bezels, it squeezes into a case that fits in a ~22" × ~14" × ~9" airline carry-on limit.

    At 19:8 (2.37) aspect ratio, 23.8" diagonal is ~21.93" × ~9.25". So 2560×1080 screens may not fit cases that fit in a ~22" × ~14" × ~9" airline carry-on limit.

To my knowledge price has not yet been announced, but the GX700 launched at around $3K, which is around the upper end of what even enthusiasts would be willing to spend.

If they announce $5k MSRP, the product would be seen as a joke.

Well 64GB DDR4 RAM option can be costly with any manufacturer, but still wow!

How many units do they hope to sell? And I don't see any price on this link. $6k?

The high end Alienware SLI and now Clevo SLI end up costing in this range with similar outfitting minus a bit of the cost for the water-cooling and external device assemblage...

The MSI GT80S with 980 SLI went for $4699, so not too far off Asus's 980 SLI.

Maybe the Asus 1080 SLI will offer a new CPU -- with a socket? -- something has to be worth that additional $1000

I hope MSI and Clevo come in under $5k for the SLI 1080, and at least match performance.

Asus also offers the GX701, without water-cooling, only air-cooling.

That took a while to come out, about 6 months+ after the water cooling model of the GX700.

IDK if the GX800 980 SLI or 1080 SLI will get an air-cooled version...?

Would be nice if the water cooling unit were sold separately and compatible with future GX product line. It's a lot to buy one of these and then for example if you already bought the GX700 last year, you'd need to buy the whole package again with a second cooling dock for GX800

That's all part of the running highend Alpha hardware, paying for future development :)

The GX700 Hydro cooler is different than the GX800 Hydro cooler, at least that's what the coverage so far has said, and it does look different from some angles.

At some point Asus could standardize on a cooler, and for future even hotter GPU's it might make sense to water cool deeper into their laptop lineup. So standardizing on it, and fitting a few of their top end models to use it would make sense.

Right now, I guess even a 1080 SLI and 1070 SLI model might make sense to water cool.

Heck, even single GPU 1080 / 1070 could benefit from water cooling :)

The only problem is, Asus would need to offer air-cooled models, at least the first couple of laptop seasons - to get people used to the idea of getting a water cooled laptop - to compare benefits water-cooled against air-cooled.

I'm pretty sure it'll have some design flaws just like previous Asus RoG models (I have RoG G53). And after paying 5k $ for this, it would be real pain.
