Hey guys and gals.
Ive had my G73 for 2days now. I purchased it pretty much just for gaming. Now my query is. I have been playing Bad Company 2 and GTA eflc. Now could anyone else that has been playing these titles let me know wht sort of performance they are getting and on what settings. I assumed being a ROG notebook that it would have no trouble playing these titles.
Dont get me wrong she plays like a beaut. BUT. With BC2 on max settings AA x2 AF x2 sometimes 4, its still very choppy. Not sure if this is normal or not. Buti read on another forum that users on the g73 were acheieving FPS of 50+. Not sure what setting though.
With GTA EFLC. It runs pretttty well on all high. Still a bit choppy also.
Also all my hardware is stok, no over clocking. (Dont know how to, but would be keen to if its safe to do so)
So yeah pretty much if anyone has any feedback on this, or has any tips or software I can download to improve myg73 experience/performance it'd be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a lot.

I have a sager with a 5870 with a about a 15% OC. In bad company 2 i've found a few things. on high settings it can get choppy, especially in a big fire fight, i would average 45 fps and dip down to id guess 20 fps (that's at 1920x1080) But after some research i've found that these settings get me 75-45 fps. 1920x1080, everything on high except shadows, and AA set to 1, AF set to 16 and hbao off.
Bottom line, at 1920x1080 AA doesnt do much, it helps at lower resolutions, and it KILLS the fps, same with hbao which is a nice dx11 feature, but all it does is help defuse light and make it look more real, for me turning these 2 things off yielded me a constant 20+ fps more in BC2, and i really cant tell the difference. AF @16 does very little to FPS and really not much for visuals that i can tell, but others say other wise. So lose aa and habo and your set. -
Also keep in mind that BC2 and GTA4 are notoriously poorly optimized games / require insane hardware to run at ultra. Easiest way to get 50 FPS? Reduce your res to 1600x900. The difference is hardly noticeable in games compared to 1080p, but it puts a lot less stress on the GPU which in turn means more FPS.

Ok great thanks for the replys. Yeah I have found HBAO really affects gameplay, but I do love the eye candy haha. I guess I can try lower some of the settings from high to medium, being at 1080 visuals still look good.
Also with overclocking. Is it safe to do so on this system. And if so how would I go about it? AMD GPU tool for the gfx card?? What about the i7 can that be OC at all. Again is it safe to do so??
Thanks in advance. -
1 other thing. On bc2 usually I find game play is all good on high BUT when I zoom in as sniper for example or in the vehicles thats when it gets really bad.

So regarding hbao, i really cant tell the difference, honestly i cant. As for over clocking, i'm not a different platform, the Sager/Clevo and at least my 5870 oc'ed about 25-30% and made a notable difference in Vantage giving me an extra 1700 points to 10k, and yes amd gpu tool is what is used. I hear the cooling in the g73 is not as good as the sagers, so be careful. As far as the cpu goes i hear you can oc them on the g73.

THanks for all the response. Could I please get some help with over clocking the g73 and how to do it safely where the factory colling system can cope.
Thanks in advance.
