Hey all. Just got a new G73jh the other day. It has a definite screen problem, but you can't see well unless in game or up close.

If the screen is still, no motion, things look ok. However, when you move a window around with the mouse, or especially in games, you can see a very fine mesh "honeycomb grid" type pattern over everything. It's hard to explain, but everyone can see it when looking up close. Its not THE WORST thing, but its very annoying none the less for a brand new laptop.

I thought maybe drivers so updated them, but no diff. Then plugged in the LCD TV to the HDMI port, and it doesnt have the problem then whatsoever, so it must be the screen itself. Think am going to have to send it back, which is very frustrating!

Sounds like you got a lower res AUO panel from a BB model?

This is a common complaint - it's not a defect though.

Oh seriously!??? It's not a fault?? :O That's shocking if not! I did get the 1600 x 900 model yes.. but why on earth would it have this issue? My samsung monitor for DT is the same resolution and is crystal and solid compared to this!

My other laptop which I havent sold yet, is the G50VT and it's resolution is only 1366x768, and has not a problem like this whatsoever.. in fact 2 other LCD monitors in the house, none have this either. Ive never seen it before and would definitely not expect it from an Asus notebook.. especally with these type of specs! Do you have to get the HD model for this not to happen? Is it the panel itself on this model that has this issue?

I'm not sure what a BB model is either.. thanks for the reply tho!

BB = Best Buy. If you look at the bottom of your laptop it will probably say G73JH-RBBX...

There is some stuff in the sticky under the G73Jh screen section that's worth reading:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/asu...threads-read-before-posting.html#g73jh-screen

The crosshatch pattern is mostly noticeable on midtones, especially the blue/gray used here on notebookreview. It shouldn't be a problem when gaming. The other models with higher res screens don't really have this issue AFAIK.

P.S. please don't crosspost - I deleted your post in another thread.

Ohh ok. Nope the sticker says:

    Model: G73J
    MB VER: G73JH

Then a long bardcode number, nothing about BB though. I'm in Australia and we don't have best buy over here. The link i mentioned above is a large Aussie based laptop seller on ebay. However as i'm having the problem it's likely the same screen your talking about, considering the price for specs I spose!

The first time I even noticed the pattern was gaming.. when i loaded wow. I thought it had wrong gfx drivers etc. If I sit far back as possible I can't notce it too much, but up close very noticeable.

So the only way to get rid of this problem would be a model with the full HD screen? Will read the screen section!

Thanks again, and sorry for posting elsewhere, am new to this forum & didn't know :) Cheers.
