Right, so I got a new HDD forr my laptop on christmas, a thinkpad 3.0 gb/s 7400 rpm 500 gig, and I was gonna use it for my steam games, but my comp cant seem to detect it. I put it in the extra HDD slot, boot up, and nothing. All I got was an attempt to install the harddrive for a split second, and then it dissapeared, so I know its seen in one way or another... also, I have reinstalled windows several times in the past with out a recovery disc. Right now, Im goig to see if it is the sata port itself by swapping my main hard-drive into it.

Edit: Found the problem. When I would flip my Asus g73jh back to its normal position, it would dissconnet from the port since nothing was holding it in place. I had to do some diy stuff, but I managed to fix it temporarily until I get an official mounting thing.

Well that's an easy fault to fix, some basic foam to support the drive would work too, just don't cover the vent hole.
