I've had a fresh install for a few weeks... (I know this isn't particular to this laptop, but it's the laptop I have and all my answers have come from here, so I'll ask.) However, there is no Window Media Player on my system.

Checking google, I found Microsofts site , but WMP for my system aren't available to download. My version of Windows is registered I downloaded it from Microsoft's Tech net. I still have the CD. I'm wondering does anyone know how I can get this on my system?

    Thank you for the help.

Well that's weird. WMP is pretty much part of Windows, something must have went wrong during the install or something.

I don't know where you got your install disk from. As a developer, I have an MSDN subscription. There are certain European versions that don't have WMP and/or IE installed. It's to do with the Microsoft/EU agreement surrounding the OS monopoly that MS has. Part of the agreement is that they would strip out some things and the consumer would choose their own players and browser. Perhaps you installed one of the EU versions?

Can't you still get WMP and install it from Microsoft or Microsoft update?

Here is how I've advised others with the "R" version of Windows 7 to install the WMP -

Click Start> Click Control Panel> Click Programs and Features> Click "Turn Windows Features on or or off" (left menu) Under Media Fetures click checkbox to turn "Windows Media Player" on.

    In Peace and Agape,
    Trav...

Do yourself a favor and don't install it! Just go after something like VLC.

VLC is garbage. CCCP + Media Player Classic= All you'll ever need.

@topic, You can download it from www.microsoft.com
CCCP is good :D but I still use WMP to play movies. What's the advantage using MPClassic?

    WMP 10? That's from what, Windows 95? ;)

FWIW, the official English site: Get Windows Media Player (see the notes for Windows 7 N and KN editions)
