you have 2 better drives already in your G73. That one is only 5400rpm.

I would either be looking at Momentus XTs if cost is an issue (like me) or an SSD if cost isn't a factor.

Oh, my bad. Its the same height as the Momentus XT drive I have. Double check the prices for a 7200rpm drive, the performance difference between 7200rpm and 5400rpm drives is a pretty decent jump.

Is that from asusparts.eu? You'd think Sweden to UK wouldn't cost much. The part is less than 8 euros.

    Cheers,

I assume your dead drive is not your original drive. If it is it should be under warranty assuming your g73 is less than 1 year old and not a refurb (which only have 90 warranties). If it is the original drive and still under warranty see if Asus will let you replace it w/o rma'ing the whole laptop.

For one?! That's crazy! -- For a 7 euro part? Surely there was a mistake? Is Sweden at war with the UK? Is there a trade embargo? Were Swedish mob smugglers going to sneak it into the UK in a box of Swedish chocolates lined with solid gold foil?

    Stunned silence begins...

i paid $30 bucks for the bracket from asusparts.eu, but I had it shipped to the US. I would definitely get the bracket as that may have contributed to the untimely death of your previous drive.
