New g71gx what updates/programs to run ?

Hey guys, I bought g71gx from a member here and I'm just running new win7 install right now. I'm wondering what programs and updates to run on this this thing as I have not followed much on this model.
I know there was some bios update to fix gpu when it reached high temps, any links for that ?

 

That bios was 1201, but if you need to upgrade the bios you might as well put in the latest version which is 1704.
It seems like there were mainly small changes after 1201.

After you've installed your antivirus/anti-malware/etc... and you have the latest drivers for the GPU then you probably want to run Vantage/3d mark 06 to see what score you get.

I got newest bios, newish gpu drivers, will try furmark later on, never run that program before

where do you download the program for turning off the led light ? it's direct console ?

 

Iit should be on the W7 driver disk, if you don't plan to use the LED lights then you can uninstall it once you turn them off.

 

I run 3dmark06 in two reolutions, wasn't sure if it should be in native or the one that comes preset on 3dmark
I also run furmark to check for temperature and the highest temp I got after 20min of testing was 80c
Edit: I just run Furmark fullscreen on native resolution and it hit 91c after 30min, I guess that's good temp to me
