Had an idea, just tried it today on my new keyboard. Thought I would share with all of you. So, on my last keyboard, I couldn't get a very good color of blue, without losing a lot of brightness. Yesterday, while waiting for my new keyboard and palmrest to show up, I had a great idea- why not change the color of the keys? I won't go into detail about why this works so well, but I will say that placing a colored piece of plastic between the light panel and the keys will (for me anyway) diffuse the light enough that brightness is lost. For me, quite a bit. So, today I took some semi-transparent ultra dark blue nail polish and colored over the symbols on the underside of the keys with a this layer. Results are posted below. Now, thanks to my brand new palmrest, keyboard, and repairing (not rigged) my dimmer control circuit, my laptop is better than the day I got it (stickers now included, lol), and now has a bright backlight mod. Next week, my pair of @3 volt 2" fluorescent blue light tubes will be here and I can put high intensity neon blue light in my exhaust vents.

EDIT- as you can see in the pic, I missed a few small areas in a few keys. Easy fix.

Isn't nail polish a little too thick? I'd thought of this too but i thought it'd be too thick and nothing would be visible in the end. I was wondering about blue felt tip pens. Would those work? Would the blue be dark enough?

Some nail polish will be too thick. You need the semi-transparent stuff, and just put a thin layer. I thought of a sharpie too, never tried it though.
