Why would you? HM55 is limited to 3gb/s. Vertex 3 is 6gb/s. Waste of money if you ask me. Same thing as using your money as toilet paper since you already have the X25. 40GB really worth the extra hundreds? Really, send me the money instead and I'll put it to use!

Nah, vertex is much more significant to a math-educated population. Vortex is cool ... for a ride at an amusement park.

Could a cursory list of the most suitable SSDs for the G73 be made for those of us less knowledgeable (read: lazy)? A top five or something similar. :D

    Much appreciated.

I am planning to buy G73SW-XT1 and OCZ Vertex 3 SSD SATA III 6Gb together from Tigerdirect.com.

I was wondering if G73SW-XT1 is capable of using SATA III 6Gb SSD.
If I can install SATA III 6Gb SSD, what do I need in order to upgrade G73SW-XT1 hard drive?

Do I have to buy an adapter or hard drive holder or etc...?
I haven't done upgrading hard drive before... so I have no clue what I have to do...

    I would appreciate your help!!
    Thank you!!!!

Yes. The HM65 intel chipset used on the G73SW can use 6gb/s Sata III hard drives.

The G73SW can support two hard drives so you will most likely not have to purchase an adapter if your laptop comes with 2 hard drives already. You can purchase an adapter if you want to add a third hard drive, but you will have to sacrifice your CD/DVD/BD drive.

Thank you so much for your response!
I am not sure if it would have an adapter.
G73SW-XT1 is the one I am planning to buy, and it only have one 500 GB 7200PM hard drive.
But, it is great that it is capable for SATA III !
Thank you again for your help!
