    Good afternoon everyone,

A while ago I ordered a G53SW-A1 from newegg. Unfortunately, I just recieved my second defective laptop. The first RMA was a broken lcd screen while the second RMA is a screen that will not even turn on (or could be the GPU as external monitors, VGA/HDMI, do not display anything).

I am wondering what others' experiences are with ordering this model from Newegg as I believe that thier stock may be to blame.

I also welcome anyone who ordered from another source to make sure this model is not just a bad apple.

    Thanks,

    Sean

There have been some reports of lemons coming from newegg for the g53. It's not something you read about every day, but it's more common than it should be for a normal failure rate. That's at least how it seems to me.

I have a feeling that's the reason Newegg selling those laptops so cheap. Trying get rid of their defective products?

I picked up the G53SW-XN1 from Newegg and have had no issues of note thankfully.

Ah, perhaps I should have gotten that model instead, though aren't the xn1 and a1 the same minus specs?

Judging from other reviews, many people are also receiving DOA's. If my third replacement turns out to be ok, should I trust it long-term?

Newegg's warehouse staff maybe handling the machines very rough these days. I have bought 7 G73JHs from newegg and all of them except for 1 had no issues so far.

This could also be the issue as both of the previous DOA's had significant damage done to the outer-most box.

Fortunately, the inside box and the inner-most box containing the laptop are well protected. This worries me that even other brands or models will be subject to rough treatment as well.

I bought my G73SW-XT1 directly from Tiger Direct store/outlet here in Toronto, Canada last May. Not a single problem.. Without bragging, the G73SW-XT1 overclocks very well, has the best looking screen/monitor, very good speakers, temps are always cool, no throttling issues, accepts NVidia drivers direct from NVidia.com (no need for modded inf drivers).

Not a single, bsod, psod whatsoever. TigerDirect is the most "looked upon" computer store here in Canada. You will enjoy The Witcher 2, Metro 2033, Crysis 2 all in 1080p, DX11, High Resolution Texture with Overclock.

You can also set your monitor to 900p, though you will get 9 FPS more, but you will see the graphics difference when in 1080p.

I think you will probably be fine, but then again I haven't even had mine for 30 days yet.

Yeah, that is what I'm most worried about. After the 30 days, I won't be able to RMA to Newegg and I'll have to deal with Asus (Newegg RMA was pretty quick and painless, while I hear Asus is very time-consuming).

Coming from the lemon XPS m1530-8600m gt, I'm pretty worried.

I've had my G53SW-XN1 for 39-40 days now and it is still running very well :D. This was when this laptop was priced at $940 (with rebate)

I have your back in case you have a bad RMA experience. FYI, our notebooks are no longer handled by Indiana, but by Bizcom here in CA.
