I am currently working through another issue with this laptop and have read through many lengthy discussions on bloatware and all of that. Since I literally have had this less than 24 hours, here is my question to all of you in the know.

If I am understanding this correctly, everyone seems to be of the opinion to completely reinstall Windows fresh right off the bat, which should remove all BW. Is this correct?

Also, is there a preferred method for reinstalling? i.e. operating system first, then bios updates, etc?

Or, do I just leave the laptop as is and continue on?

    Thanks, Mike

It all depends on what you want or don't want. I prefer a clean install with only the Asus bloatware i want. There are some programs like ATK that you will want to install on your computer. The bios update is also recommended, but unreleated to the OS installation itself. You could alternatively uninstall all the bloatware and leave it at that.

There is a bloatware in the sticky in the main asus section of the forum so you can decide what you want.

    Stuff installed on my JH:
    Windows
Drivers, including ATK drivers for the hotkeys etc.
    Wireless Console 3
    P4G Hybrid
The programs i use, that's it.

Well, since I do not ever play games I would have no need for any of those features. I bought the laptop strictly for work, watching movies, and internet. Since I work in Photoshop a lot I need the memory for quicker rendering, beyond that - not much else. Honestly, at this point the laptop is running great so I am not too worried about it. But, hey - if it will run twice as fast with a fresh install - who am I to turn down speed? :D

Why are you even asking? Just do a fresh install.
