I have a G51vx which I bought on eBay. It was from Best Buy and I recently had to get it repaired. When I called Asus, they just asked me where I bought it and when. I said it was from the US but I have a receipt and they were ok with it. That said, it could depend which country you're in...or I was just lucky that the guy I talked to didn't know/care.

Thanks. What happens if you don't have the box that it came in to send it back for repairs? How long did it take to get there, get repaired and get back to you?

Also, did you have to send the original receipt along with the notebook?

I didn't have to send it back in the box. It's easier that way, but you can package it in another box. Also, they do need your receipt for the date the 1 year started.

I didn't send it in the original box. It only took 1 day for mine to get to them (of course this will completely depend on where you live). It took 4 weeks for it to get repaired. I sent a photocopy of the receipt.

My G51 failed again just 6 days after getting it back. So I have to send it back. This whole thing's a nightmare. Asus' service isn't that great.
