Just want to start by saying, a very great site here, helped me out big getting this frustrating laptop up and running, its a G73JH. I have a G60vx as well and what a difference in driver quality for some reason, my g60 I love to death because of how win7/8/8.1 works flawlessly with fresh installs!. This laptop took hours to get setup. But this site got me up and running quicker (than if this site had not existed), thanks for the excellent stickies. Appreciate that big time.
Now on to my topic. I wanted to post to this topic originally but its closed probably because its so old, and bumping that old of a topic may not be allowed here anyway.

As my title says and the topic I just pasted the link to, the problem is the Hard drives not showing up after a reboot. Now, as mentioned above I have a G60vx, and I had a HDD and a SSD in that. Since owning the SSD for two years now, it has not ONCE given me ANY problem, same with the HDD. Both the drives are 100% fine.
Heres more proof: So after probably 6-10 restarts and it saying various errors like "cannot read operating system" or "no operating system" or "select boot device or reboot", it will just magically boot the proper drive. I have the HDD in the shallow bay and the SSD in the deeper bay. The HDD does not have a OS, just my backup files only and I run my OS off the SSD. More times than not, it seems to pick up the HDD but not the SSD. Or, it will not pick up either drive. Then magically it picks up both, and boots the SSD. Magic. Junk. ...ugh
Something about the SATA ports seem very bad too. They don't seem to stick out enough...like probably half of the pins for both drives are showing, so it looks like its only getting plugged in half way. Cannot push any further as the drive hits the bay wall right there. So, I dont know. Maybe thats part of the problem? Or that only my laptop?
I would really like to not have to replace the mobo in this :/. I have the latest bios, 213, and vbios (not that that matters). All latest drivers I could get. I also have the Intel SATA Controller Management drivers installed, I think it was called. I figured that would help, but nope. I almost have this thing running great, but this is just weird. I am 100% certain both my drives are completely okay as they 'do' boot, but it just doesn't always pick them both up at POST. Sometimes switching them helps but definitely not everytime I switch, usually makes no difference.
I'm really hoping after all this time of others having this problem (2 years?), someone figured out the solution? (did everyone toss this laptop like a bad habit?)
I would appreciate it soo much (because when its up and running how it should, its really a nice laptop I think).
Thanks!
No HDD found. Motherboard? G73JH
