I know I have read about this issue somewhere before, so I do apologize about posting this thread. I just spent an hour searching the huge threads that I know have the info, but lost my patience.
I am definitely going to call ASUS and give them a piece of my mind about this omission. In the meantime, is there any free software that I can download that will allow me to watch a bluray movie? Or is there actually software on the computer, but I'm just overlooking it?
Edit: I am referring to the jh-a1 by the way. I paid for a bluray drive, I feel like I got shafted.

Taken from videohelp.com:
To play a Blu-ray Disc use PowerDVD, WinDVD or ArcSoft TotalMedia Extreme. There are currently no free Blu-ray players(with menu support).
Play m2ts files using the same software or free tools like VLC Media Player or Media Player Classic Home Cinema. -
Edit: calling them now

There's free software on the ASUS site. It's PowerDVD8 I believe.
-
It is WINDVD8 and is available on Asus support site and plays BDs flawlessly.
-
I bought my BD player separately and already had PowerDVD9 so I wasn't sure. -
Glad to hear there is freeware available thru ASUS. I ordered the Sony blu-ray from Amazon and was worried since I ordered the A2 (w/o blu-ray)
Can anyone recommend a good freeware to Burn BD-R or should I just put down the $$ and get a copy of AnyDVD HD? -
All you had to do was use the search function.

Asus sold what could have been the perfect computer, if they had taken the effort to finish it. WinDVD and PowerDVD cost money, and I feel I paid enough for a computer that should have supplied these programs, and they won't play every Blu Ray, unless you get the premium version. Sounds like Asus made some deals behind their customer's backs. Also, in my case, they didn't even include the basic ODD drivers. While minor, I definitely did not get what Asus represented. I can promise you, they have lost me as a future customer. After three days of swapping emails, I still can't watch a Blu Ray disk, but because I can view DVD, it is apparently not a hardware issue.

They did include BD software in the stock install.... PDVD 9 OEM. If you wiped and started from scratch, may I suggest PDVD 10 Ultra 3D for $37.94 plus shipping of course. I ordered it and it's a full license. $42 shipped. Cheaper than the site's upgrade price, and no annoying install over previous version required BS.
No bluray software included with G73?! Cheap solution?
