I'm thinking of getting a strong, stable gaming laptop within the price range of about $1000-$1300. After some research, I've mostly settled with the Asus G73SW-XA1, but the sheer variety of Asus models is still leaving me a bit worried. Are there other models within the price range that would be considered superior, i.e. G53JW?

I bought myself a Asus G73Jh, and I am more happier then ever. It's a superior gaming machine with enough power to run almost anything that's out there. Great cooling(although my fan gave out after 8 months), it's fast, has space to upgrade your RAM and HDD.

Monkey , I would recommend this:
    GenTech PC - Customize System
Ken Lee is an outstanding contributor to this forum and it appears they add another 2 gig ram for one cent- also if you move fast there is a 150 dollar rebate until Aug 31.
in general avoid best buy models.
