    Hi all,
Today i noticed that after installing current official Nvidia drivers (which is 285.62) using correct procedure (using Driver Sweeper before installing new drivers and after normal uninstallation of previous version), you CAN'T play Mpeg-2 video in WMP12. You hear the audio but built-in Windows 7 MPEG-2 decoder filter gets broken and you only see a black screen with audio.

For me, that doesn't appear to be a problem in Windows Live Movie Maker, but in WMP 12 and Windows Media Center. VLC can play fine but that's not the case! I want my WMP 12 to play MPEG-2 files fine as if i was running on stock-drivers which was working fine in my G53JW before!

Any people noticed this problem with MPEG-2 videos and Windows Media Player 12 after installing 285.62?

    Similar issue reported here:
NVIDIA 285.62 WHQL No Video in Windows Media Center - NVIDIA Forums

Note that other video formats can be opened fine such as MP4 (AVC), WMV, AVI including DivX.

Any comments greatly appreciated! Shame Nvidia!

Sorry for bumping, but it's a big surprise to have zero reply in a gaming forum and when you think of lots of users with 285.62 driver. No idea?

Well, i only own a JH, but i didn't get such problems on the GTX570 in my desktop. You could always try to re-install the drivers using by doing a custom install and checking clean install instead of using driver sweeper.

Hi Tijo, Did you try playing a Mpeg2 video (and supposedly Dvd-video) using Windows Media Player 12 on your desktop which is running on 285.62?

I really would like to update to 295.51, BUT as someone pointed out in elsewhere and what i found out is that 295.51 beta release has a serious memory leak issue and takes much of your RAM while you're watching videos especially long movies. That's why i'm hesitating to update 295.51, this issue is also heavily being discussed in official Nvdia forums like here. Another shame of Nvidia.

    Any comments?

Yeah I think it aso has screen flickering issue with external monitor. if you want the Windows Media center to work right then I think you may want to roll back to older driver.

That's really a big dilemma! (Nvidia  ), When you update to latest driver, you suppose to have "the most" bug-free driver package to play latest games, watch videos (not a new thing), connect display devices. At the same time, you need to (based on your and others' suggestion) roll back to previous driver to get "already-working" things as fixed. If you stick with current driver which is 285.62, you'll be able to play latest games with fixes / improvements (such as BF3) but you get black screen in WMP and WMC with MPEG2 videos which drives me crazy.

Isn't there a complete bug-free Nvidia driver version?

Why do they break simple but important thing(s) -at least Mpeg decoding, which is done since ancient era - when they intend to fix problems for 3D games and release newer versions such as 295.51?

    Real shame, and disappointment...
