Ok I'm stuck, I have searched the forum and not found a solution to my problem/ Which is this, my ocz vertex will not run in sata III mode aka 6gb/s. I have tried the regedit fix here to disable LPM but no luck. I've rebooted my G53sw to find for a few seconds it will report Sata3 then later it goes back to sata2. Fresh intalled windows 3 times and still sata II. :( Latest RST drives etc

Are any G53sw owners on vertex 3's running sata 3 (6bg/s and if so please do tell how you did it?)

I'm on firmware 2.06 on my Vertex 3.

Try using Microsoft's drivers or other Intel AHCI drivers. You will get sata 3 speeds.

Using crystaldiskmark, intel rst drivers had 3gb/s speeds and the other drivers mentioned had 6gb/s speeds.

Well I have, uninstalled the MS driver. Get sata 3 for a while then it installs itself again. Can you please point me to a link or driver that works for you? I've tried the IRST driver 10.1 and 10.5 and 10.6. All start out fine but drop or reboot to sata2.

 this is a real pain..You can see the sata 3 difference then also see the drop to sata2.

Ok got it to boot up on sata3 and atto reported a max for 554 read and 514 write, very quick! But apon reboot back to sata2 again..I can't figure out why on earth its doing this?

Might be to do with the fact i'm on firmware 2.06 ????

Edit: Please check other G53sw owners. I start on 6 GB/s then when i check after a few minutes bam, back to sata2 speeds. This OCZ vertex is rubbish if it wont stay in sata3 :(

That is not what you are using if you are using Intel RST.

    You can use either:
Intel 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family 6 Port SATA AHCI Controller - 1C03
    or
Standard AHCI 1.0 Serial AHCI Controller.

Intel RST driver is Intel Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller.

Thanks for your help, But that makes no scene to me. Is what your trying to say is use another driver? If so how I'm going crazy here trying to ge this ocz vertex 3 just to dman well stay in 6gbs mode. To the point I'm about to send this notebook back or the vertex 3.

How? It it were as easy as just saying use the Intel 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family 6 Port SATA AHCI Controller - 1C03.

I have my ocz vertex plugged into port 0, i've tried port 1 too same thing.

You can change drivers under "IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers" in Device Manager.

Run a disk benchmark like CrystalDiskMark after and you will see that other drivers make use of SATA 3, while Intel RST may dip between 6gb/s and 3gb/s.

Thanks all working now. the G73/G53 drivers page needs a note i think that if you have a Sata 3 SSD don't install the RST program!

I am having the same issue, do I uninstall my mobile express driver than install the intel 6 series chipset 3.1? Or do I go about it another way?

Well I uninstalled the driver but after reboot it started auto downloading/installing it right back then I got a Blue screen of death. I rebooted in safe mode and it said the changes have been made reboot me again and..

That is what I ended up with. It gave me the SATA III speeds right after reboot but 10minutes later it dropped me back to SATA II speeds.

You can hit "Update Driver" and manually select the MS driver.

So I take it the Standard AHCI control is the MS driver, is the MS driver more stable and/or enable faster speeds that the Intel 6 series/c200?

I know this thread is a bit old but I found it so others might as well. I'm using the m4 too and not getting SATA 3 speeds. Anyone fount a solution yet or does it have to do with the M4 not working properly on the HM65 chipset?

I bought a OCZ solid 3 sata3 ssd and it reads at 90MB/s and writes at 60MB/s from within a usb 3.0 enclosure.
Think I could use it as a boot drive? How do I move just the OS to the SSD?
I was just gonna install it as a quick storage drive to increase my usb 3.0 port speed but dont knw if its fast enough or what.
    its 60GB BTW.
