What's different in this release?

 

not sure...when I tried to look at release notes the link was bad...but I hear some have gotten a big bump in black ops... ....im testing out now

Thanks for the link Chastity. The AMD link shows site under maintenance. After installing the new driver, I get a 50 points improvement in 3DMark 11 from 2225 to 2275!

 

Anyone got Graphic problem with those on starcraft 2 when Shader is on ULTRA?
Its like there is no more lighting... setting it to High looks better than ultra :/

 

I already installed them. I don't see the Catalyst Control Center any different... hum... is it different for you or is that only for the Desktop version?

I am getting a lot of corruption on StarCraft 2 on Ultra settings :S No like.

 

I got a bunch of corruption on max settings in Just Cause 2 with 10.11. 10.10 was the last perfectly stable release for me.

 

I am having similar problems with starcraft ultra settings on 10.12

 

I see a small improvement in Black Ops, but still can not turn on shadows. I get extreme FPS drops when it is turned on, which makes the game unplayable online. I'll just leave shadows off for now.

 

All the Black Ops issues are entirely due to Treyarch's poor coding, not anything to do with drivers. I'm hoping a patch is going to fix things... but I'm not holding my breath.

 

The new CCC is only for Desktop drivers. Mobility still has the old format.

 

That REALLY sucks. Why didn't they implement it to mobility drivers? Wouldn't be that difficult.

 

because it's preview and meant for testing purposes only. We are notebook users, that means non-so-geek as desktop users. They are coming in 11.1 release.

 

The release notes page seems to be up and working for me. If they were down before, they're up again. Hope this helps.

• The screen may flicker and objects may be duplicated when running Medal of Honor DX11 with Crossfire enabled.
• Texture corruption or missing text may be observed when running Nostradamus the Last Prophecy.
• Menu and Action bar borders may shimmer occasionally when MLAA is enabled in World of Warcraft.
• 8X Anti Aliasing may not be available in certain 3D applications.

 

Don't know if I should update my drivers to these. I have very outdated drivers (8.683). But the last time when I tried to update it to 10.10e it didn't install correctly, if at all (yes i did the uninstall of the older drivers and driver sweep thing along with the usual reboots) Then I tried 10.11 which didn't work either. Had to reformat the computer and stick with these stock drivers. Nothing is wrong with them...just very outdated...

 

You should be disabling the "Driver signature enforcement" at Windows bootup if you are using non-official drivers or you might have issues. Reformatting is a little extreme, but I won't attack you for it, since it's your time.

 

I'm going back to the 10.10e provided by asder from Guru3D; had no problem with those.

 

10.12 solved all my black ops issues it runs with everything maxed out (with AA at 4x) and rarely drops below fps with vsync on...

 

Black ops is a really bad game to judge things on, for me the game has been perfectly stable at max settings w/ 10.8 since release, though I had to make a small change in the config file.

As for the rlease notes and such, does anyone else ever feel like this when reading them?

 

How would I go about disabling that? Is it in the BIOS or something?

 

It's in the F8 menu where the safe mode option is.

though i did have some massive DX9 issues until i reupdated it.

weird corruption (purple and pink polys) on games. i thought my machine was dying - but no, just needed to update DX

 

can i get the link for that? I remember downloading 10.10e hotfix from guru3dbut it mustve been the wrong one coz it was only the Catalyst w/o the drivers.

Thanks! Just installed these drivers and noticed a decrease in my idle temps. Use to idle at 60C...Now its at 56C. Those readings are from GPU Observer. GPU-Z says 63C? Weird..

 

I'm idle at 46c on mine with 10.10e I had tried to update to 10.11 idle at about 64c three days ago, and I had constant crashes. I updated to these and the same problem playing fallout new vegas. 10.10e rules! all these noob drivers amd has put out.

10.12 seems fine with me, just been playing need for speed hot pursuit on high settings with no slowdown.

 

havent tried this but following post on guru3d says this will make the new CCC work on mobility too..

Don't use Avivo. Take the few hours to read up and learn how to use x264. AVIVO and CUDA encoders are poor excuses for encoding. Contrary to thought, AVIVO and CUDA are slower than x264 and quality is also terrible in comparison.

So... do yourself a favor and just learn to use x264. It's completely free and there is substantial amount of help. Doom9.org. Doom10.org. Or can check on IRC. On IRC though, you should have a background knowledge before wasting anyone's time.

Hey Chastity, just wanted to double check what the difference between this one and the 10.12 driver set that Gary links to in his "Beta BIOS - Possible Missing Keystroke Fix" post ( http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonmob_win7-64.aspx#1). There's a BIG difference in the file size (1.1 MB vs 92 MB). Want to make sure I have the correct one. I'm taking the plunge on doing the BIOS and vBIOS updates tomorrow.

1.1MB is the size of the AMD downloader application. The package it downloads is the 92MB one.

 

Thanks Mark. I was wondering if that was it but it seemed kinda silly to me that you'd have to go to their page to download the downloader application that THEN would bring down the actual file. Thanks to Chastity for directly posting it for us

 

Haha, even though I posted the release notes excerpt, I admit that I too skimmed over them and felt the same way. "Oh look a bunch of new games I won't get till prices come down or in the inevitable Steam Holiday Sale 2011, 2012, etc".

i get GSODs when i start JDownloader (didn't try games yet).
seems like i have to go back to 10.10e :/

These drivers seem great to me, I do notice a temperature increase.

I haven't changed anything else (physically) with my machine, just the drivers. WOW used to hit a maximum of 77C, after the drivers I am hitting mid 80's. No, I didn't just move to a new zone or something, I'm literally standing where I logged out last and eying my temperatures.

Anyone else notice a bump in heat?

 

I second this. Idling a few degrees higher. Black Ops @ 1080 hits 96 (due to a need of a repaste though)

 

Idling temps are the same for me.

 

dolsson, did you play WoW on ultra settings? when i play on ultra, i gettemps of 97 degrees max, and avg 88 degrees

 

Noticeable improvement in Crysis Warhead. Use to average around 20 fps @ 1600x900, no AA, Enthusiast setting. Now averaging around 26 fps. You usually don't see this big of improvement with just drivers. But I was using a factory shipped 9.x version though, still. But I'm not complaining, just very surprised.

 

WIth 10.11 in WOW i see 67 to 85 degreese.
I run Ultra and the Direx11 forced use as well.
There is code that you can change in wow that forces Direx 11 to be used.

I will try out 10.12 later this week and see what happens.
I have never repasted and have not done the Vbios update..

I am really pissed that the Fan never go past 30% used. I would like to be able to bumped them to 80% to 100% durring game play....
