Ran it for approx. 20 minutes. Max temp was 99c (Furmark reading).

    Repaste, or no?

It's a Cowboom refurb so no warranty to bother with.

I think it should be ok. I would leave it, but others would disagree.

See I'd normally leave it too, but I've never seen the inside of this thing and I'm interested to see what the factory paste job looks like, so I'm on the fence about it... which is why I posted this thread. Thank you for the advice, though!

Im certain the factory job can be improved. 99C is up there in the red zone...
The question is whether or not you want to do it.

That's not a bad temp at all, depending on your ambient temp. After repaste I could still break 100C during the summer in a 75F room.

Remember too that Furmark will get the GPU considerably hotter than any game will. Games seem to get me up around 80-85C at most.

Honestly I don't think you can expect much more from the limited heatsink/heatpipes in there.

How long have you had the laptop? If its still close to brand new then it will most probably degrade over time, I would repaste, or wait for it to degrade, then RMA for repaste if you're not comfortable in doing it yourself.

If your ambient temps are high your gpu temps will be high no matter repaste or not, also people please stop posting that furmark gets your gpu hotter than any game, I have tested many intensive games to take my gpu to the same temps as furmark.

Ambient temp in room was around 80-82F at the time of testing, so this probably isn't a bad temp at all. I'm using a Targus ChillHub now and the air coming out of the back doesn't feel quite as hot anymore. I also monitored GPU-Z temps while gaming and I barely break 73C.

Your temps are fine if your gaming at 73C with a 80F ambient.

Thanks; That's pretty much what I figured. This is my first ATI card in a laptop since i owned my IBM T30. (mobility radeon 7500)

This has been my EXACT experience since getting mine back from an RMA repaste at a local ASP. And these are at 800/1100 clocks

The furmark temps had me tripping and I was going to RMA it to the local place again with some IC-7, but I'm hesitant as nothing has gotten over 88 on the 800/1100 clocks other than Furmark, and my machine came back pretty flawless. There was some looseness in the keyboard on and around the spacebar, but applying gentle but firm pressure fixed that the first day I got it back - so I'm not sure I want to risk it coming back either dinged or scratched or with some jacked up keyboard.

Not even SCII would go past 88 and that was after a couple hours playing.

And everyone says SCII taxes the GPU as much as Furmark - but my temps never rose above 85-88 while playing with 800/1100 clocks after 90 to a couple hours of playtime.

Furmark? My GPU temps shot up to 102 in under 5 minutes before hovering around there for 15 before I shut it off.

Just reiterates my belief that these benching programs are on the hustle.

Thanks for the affirmation. I'm not going to worry about this anymore unless I hit 95 "in game" again and then I'll take it in or just do it myself.

    Cheers
