I can sit and browse the web... play games... no issues with overheating or anything like that but as soon as I turn the laptop (like to show someone across the room something) the screen will sometimes go black.

I've had this happen in on-line games and it does not disconnect me... the laptop does not go into sleep mode per-say since I am still connected to the net. However, if I hit the power button... it brings me back to the windows sign in screen (like it would do if I had the screen locked or the screensaver was kicked on.)

This happens with it on battery and plugged into the wall. It is getting quite aggravating to say the least. I have also made sure to turn off all power settings in Windows... even wiped the drive and did a fresh install of Windows 7 (also Windows 8.)

Has anyone had this issue?! Or am I just the lucky one?

Welcome to the forum, Solution never move the laptop while it is running (JK)
IT could be a loose video cable

Try moving it around while an external monitor is plugged in. If the laptop screen turns off, it is a loose LCD cable, if the external monitor goes off too, it could be much worse.

    Josea is right I believe.

You should just remove the screws in the battery compartment and pop off the back of the laptop. Then you can get access to the video cable and see if there is any wear or shorting. You won't be able to see the video connection to the motherboard, or the connection to the screen but you should be able to identify a bad cable. You can wiggle it if it's on, i'd suggest running the laptop just with the power cord just incase you have to kill the power to the machine quick.

It could also be the sensor that senses when the laptop is closed. I know the g53sw has this issue.

Here is a disassembly video for you, if you want to take it down to the motherboard to check the rest of the video cable. It's probably a good idea to clean it if you take it apart.
