Its all about marketing a new product, new stuff in will attract new customers, they probably will return to ATI with the 6XXX series, and back to Nvidia with 5XX, its just about selling more, and using the launch of a new product in their advantage.

I would love it if this guy had optimus.

the only other few laptops I've seen with a good graphics card (Radeon 5600 series or better) are either 1366x768 or HP's Envy14 which isn't out yet. But HP is having a lot of issues with their Envy17s right now (wobbles, gaps in the seams, static and/or a high pitched noise with the audio).

...and the envy14 looks like it has a vent that's blocked by the screen when it's open. Man.

Yah, I saw that. Which is why I'm considering the G53 as an alternative.

Maybe all the RMAs for GSOD behavior with newish Cats caused them to reconsider, or maybe nvidia gave them good pricing on parts.

Asus Philippines representatives are already taking pre-orders for the G53. Its 99.9kPHP for the non-3D, 109kPHP for the 3D version. 99.9k is also the price for the G73JH here.

Price is almost 40 to 50% more than the estimated price if you do a straight conversion from USD to PHP. But I guess thats taxes, shipping and grease money to get it through our customs officials.

well considering that its the same 99.9k price as the JH in the Philippines I'm guessing itll be around the same 1645 usd for the g53 as the jh here (Though straight conversion - its alot more expensive over there for some reason). Strange that theyre already taking preorders. Are the final specs out already? I remember that preorders were up on Gentech and XoticPC but they were taken down due to NDA from asus and nvidia.

    Facebook page for Asus Philippines:
    ASUS Philippines | Facebook

The profile pic shows the specs and price for the Philippines for the G73JH and the G53 3D and non 3D. I'm the guy who asked for the ETA in his wall. He mentioned 1 month est.

I also asked the Asus store when I went to Digital Alley. For those in the Philippines, it's in Greenbelt 3, Makati. He also mentioned that the N61JV will be prevalent in stores in the next week or so (it's already availalbe in some retailers for 55.9k). He also mentioned that the N43 (with GT425M), G53, G73 could also be pre-ordered through them. ETA mentioned was also 1 month. So that confirms the facebook post.

And lastly, when I called up Asus Philippines headquarters to ask about those models and they confirmed the availability, price and ETA (late August to early September in the Philippines)

I've been on researching for months for a laptop to get so I can give my poor MSI CX420 a little rest from gaming :). I'm hoping the G53 will be already be available when I head to Chicago for a couple of weeks next week. If not, I'll be coming home with a G73JH from Best Buy. Hoping to buy from custom online retailers that you guys love like Xotic or Gentech, but I doubt they'll accept an international credit card with a Philippine billing address.

Apparently there has never been an official release date. However, many reputable resellers, GentechPC, BTOtech, XoticPC, and PowerNotebooks have recieved word that their first shipments have been delayed a couple of weeks. The new projected date is Oct 18th. Again, I'm not sure this is the Official ASUS date... I hope this helps.

Does the G53 come in two kinds ?
    with 3D & without ?

Which has a better Screen on it
is it same like the G73JW ?

Trying compare it to a AW m17x Screen -
    17-inch WideUXGA 1920 x 1200 RGB LED (1200p)

the alienware m17x will probably have a better screen. it isnt the same as the g73jw which has gotten praise for its screen because its a different size, hopefully itll be of the same quality tho. maybe even the 15 inch version of that one. it comes in 3d with the 720 screen and and it comes in not 3d with the 1080 screen

It depends. The 3D model is a 300$ increase in price.

Both types are offered from GenTechPC. If you're wondering what a '3-D Experience' looks like, you should probably visit a computer/tv shop like Best Buy and try their 3D TV's (they have sample glasses, at least where I live).

    1. The "No Dead Pixel" Guarantee-1Year is up to you. I've never had an issue with pixels or have met anyone IRL with pixel issues, so I never bothered to get it.

    2. You're right about GenTech having that awesome keyboard colour option.

    3. WiCast is nice. I didn't even notice it was an option lol :p

    4. I'm not sure where you're getting these warranties. It's the same for everyone. You get 2 years global and 1 accidental ...parts and labour is covered at both GenTech and Xotic.

    5. An extreme processor is like 900-1000$. If you sleep on a pile of money at night, then go for it. Maxed RAM is only good if you're running heavy media/music applications. As for games, anything over 6GB is overkill. I personally need 8GB b/c I compose electronic music and it's very demanding.

    6. Why Windows 7 Ultimate?

    7. The rest of your selection looks good (HD space, blu ray) ;)

    Yes yes.
4gb ram+Cheapest HDD possible+whatever ODD you prefer based on usage. Windows 7 HP is enough--there's no real diff anyways for the common user.

    North America Warranty ?

wonder which gives a better 24/7 service
    XoticPC or GenTechPc
or is there another :) reseller

    I like the 7 Ultimate
always got the Ultimate before too :)

The warranty is through Asus. If it were to break down, you'd ship it off to the official Asus repair facility. It also never hurts to get a 3rd year of warranty too. I plan on replacing every 2 years, so I'm going to keep it at 2. About 2 more weeks until it's released.

The i7 940xm is worth it in the sense of the performance-but not at the cost of a laptop itself.

Wow if you going all out id just wait for the sandy bridg line and ati 6xxx series because it will have more bang than thhe 480m

You mean more bang than the 460m
tho i wish it came with the 480m :)

Yes its true, that its better to wait
but i like the G53 cos its not that heavy :)

& latter I will be getting AWm17x or NP7280 with the sandy bridg line and ati 6xxx series for a more Powerful Laptop ;)
