Both 17.3' screens and have the same basic specs(Coffee lake, GTX1070, 16gig ram, etc). The swing factor is MSI's better cooling or the ASUS's nicer 144hz IPS screen.

I tried the last gen ROG Strix with a 1070 and the thing had terrible thermals and really noisy fans. I hear that the new generation is improved, but it's still really easy to find reports of thermal throttling and noisy fans. I honestly prefer the look and feel of the Asus.

How do you guys weigh-in? Have the current STRIX models improved enough to compete with MSI's cooling?

honestly, ASUS is trash no offense man. this shows internal cooling for 6 cores cpu for this gen, both are GL703 differences are GM/VD model.

as per this site, http://www.dexus5.com/system3/inside-asus-gl703gs-e5011t-disassembly/ the GS is likely using same heatsink design as the GM, which imho is equally as bad as the right on the right in the first picture.

the previous gen is 4 cores i7, this gen it is 6 cores, so upping 2 more cores would mean at least a 30-40% power consumption increase if at the same frequency. honestly, go for MSI unless you want your ASUS 6 cores laptop running with 1 heat pipe at 2.2ghz.

They're pretty similar on paper, but the Raider definitely cools better.
