So I just got my new G73JW laptop yesterday and it works beautifully, except for one problem. I noticed that when I started firing up the games that only the right fan seems to be really working, the left fan blows very little air compared to the one on the right (when in front of the computer at the keyboard.) I know this has probably been posted before, but I honestly did search around this forum, and others, and haven't found anything. I thought that updating the BIOS may fix this problem but I know that's risky business, and wanted to hear if anyone else had this problem. Any help is appreciated, and thanks in advance.

Left fan is CPU and it will not spin faster. The right fan is the gpu and it will spin faster depending on the game you play. I have the G73JH and I dont think my CPU fan has ever increased speed.

Ah interesting, never knew that. How come though, when I go onto Speedfan after playing SC2, it's showing alot of my cores in the 53 Celsius range? Dunno if that's too hot, but it has a little flame icon next to it. Sorry if this is a stupid question, this is the first gaming computer I've ever had.

nope that is not hot at all. I have the 840 and play SC2 and do not go about 58C. Mine idles between 43C - 46C. A little high because of the 840 cpu

can you monitor your temperatures of your cpu and see what's happening with the fan (when does it turns on / off ? )
my left vent or fan (CPU FAN) is turning very often off and on
so that's why i am asking if it's not only me experiencing that i will inform Gary or someone from the asus guys with hope that will be fixed in some other bios releases :)

Antisniper: You have the 840? I have the 740.

Mite: I haven't noticed the left fan going off, but I havent used any software to monitor it. Speedfan apparently doesn't read the G73's Fans.

Yes I had the 840 put in which would create a bit more heat. Only 2-3C more. And yes sometimes the CPU fan will shut off because it is not needed. Nothing to worry about.

Alright. I was just worried that I had a bad fan, and I would have to send it back. I've heard about Asus Support...
