I have a G73JH-BST7, stock, updated VGA drivers from Asus. I have a few issues with the GPU and do not know if I need different drivers to solve the problem. Don't even know if it's the card itself which will not allow the use of said programs. Here they are:

WoW Model Viewer will not open. In the log it gets as far as "opening OpenGL" and goes no further. I get the splash screen and option to choose which folder WoW files are in, but nothing else. I've tried different versions of WoW Model Viewer and even Dev versions, no go.

Adobe After Effects will not open period. I get the splash screen then an error saying "Sniffer_gpu.exe has stopped working." Don't know what is causing this. As well, Photoshop CS5 works fine except some of the 3D components. I'm taking it that some of those 3D factors are because the card I have does not support 3D in such a way? That's what an Asus support rep said at least.

So, is the OpenGL issue caused by needing to update drivers. I am currently using the V8.683.0.0 from Asus, Catalyst 11.2. Is there an updated driver or link to one, that will fix this possibly? Does After Effects not work with my card, the ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5870? Why would Sniffer_GPU.exe stop working? Also, is the Photoshop 3D issue something I have to work with because of my card? I don't mind not having full 3D stuff in that program, but being able to use programs which use OpenGL is a must.

    Thanks!

    Try this:

    1) Uninstall Drivers
    2) Boot into safe mode and Use Driver sweeper to remove leftovers
    3) Install this driver: Catalyst 11.4 Preview

Be sure to use driver sweeper 2.9, 2.8 did bad things for some people, it messed with some winsxs files and they couldn't install SP1 so just to be safe, use 2.9. Definitely update your vBios as well.

Ok, I flashed the vBIOS and that went good. I've uninstalled the Asus ATI drivers for my card, did the restart and clean thing, went to install new drivers and it's saying that a signature is missing? So, it's not installing the drivers, and now the old drivers from Asus are not there so it booted me into the VGA integrated graphics. Am I doing something wrong? I've downloaded the 11.3 and I even tried 11.4, no go, doesn't tell me to restart and even when I did CCC doesn't work and like I said, Windows keeps telling me there is no verified Signature for the drivers.

Hmm, sorry i'm at a loss there, did you run driver sweeper in safe mode, rebooted and tried installed the ATI drivers. Usually the procedure i use is: uninstall drivers -> reboot in safe mode and use DS -> reboot and install newer drivers. So far it has always worked flawlessly or me.

Ok, I have 11.3 working, but now the CCC won't open. I click on Start->Programs->CCC-> and none of the one's under that will open. I am getting a pop-up saying: "Could not load file or assembly 'CLI.Implementation' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file." Is there a fix for this? Did it install wrong?

Seems to be a corrupted install. Run the setup again, and check if the CCC is installed.

If it is, uninstall it via the setup, and re-install just the CCC via Advanced Options.

You don't need any registry sweeper apps.

Completely remove AMD driver and start over. Make sure you download and install the suite (I linked to it above), not just the Catalyst Control Center (CCC) individual download.
