I never owned a Asus, but I found one that I really like.

    Newegg.com - ASUS G Series G73SW-3DE NoteBook Intel Core i7 2630QM(2.00GHz) 17.3" 8GB Memory DDR3 1333 1TB HDD 7200rpm Blu-Ray Burner NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M

I compared and built up a Alienware to match and It seems i still get a better deal with the Asus due to the fact that Ill get a usb mouse, 3d glasses and carrying case with it. 3d for the alienwar would have sent it well into the 2500 range. Anyways.. I am coming off of a Gateway p78 coverted to a p79 with a GTX 260M x9100. So i am hoping this will be a way better experience. My gateway recently started to act up, freezing on me during games...only.... pissed me off.. lol. But yeah, opinions are helpful, and thanks in advance!!

That 3DE model actually has one of the best looking screens I have seen. I didn't think the 120 Hz monitor would make a huge difference until I saw it with my own eyes. Plus it has been a great system thus far! I would definitely agree with you on the pricing there, as the ASUS tends to be a bit better deal than the Alienware options as far as price is concerned in most cases.

I hear ya Reaper. I got the one below in my sig last August. No issues yet. I'm not going to bite on the "3D with the glasses" apple as I know the tech is out there that doesn't need glasses. The G73JW would be good choice though or THIS. Of course everything is subjective, definitely get something that can be upgraded in the future. ;)

Thanks guys.. And no, the 3d wasnt like.. a must have.. isnt a must have. thats just an option.. I personally wear glasses and do not really want 3d, I just figured it came with them.A non 3d version of that laptop would actually be ideal. Now I overclocked the 9800M GTS when I had it, Evil Claw, but it never gave me the performance I wished for. And i never got the fully test out the GTX 260M due to the freezing issue, so im eager to either get my gateway fixed.. or simply move on.. and the Asus will deffinatly be my choice. I like the look of sagars, but the fact that they have a dead pixel warrenty kind of scares me.. I know its just caution.. but still.. lol. and the price for one of my standards is way too much.. With the Asus.. I can take the memory i have now and add it to make 16 GB of ddr3 1333mhz... lol. so yeah.. along with my ssd.

hey man.. do you know the difference between that one int he link you sent me and this one?

Yep, instead on one 750GB 7200RPM HDD, you have 2x 500GB hybrid HDDs, a blu-ray ODD, a backpack to carry it and a gaming mouse included in the package. The rest of the hardware is the same. My advice is if you don't need 2 500GB HDDs and the blu-ray get the XA1 and buy the backpack and mouse separately, it'll cost you less. The increase in price is close to the value of the extra stuff you get.
