    Hey guys,

So I have been having an overheating problem and it is really starting to bother me. I opened up my laptop today and it all looked relatively fine.

There was a little dust, but I don't have a pressurized air canister so there wasn't much I could do besides wipe some of it off and intensely blow on it using my own air (AKA: My mouth). If the problem were a blocked airflow, would it be noticeable to the plain eye? Should I invest in a cheap bottle of canister air (Sounds kind of funny, like bottled water) to blow the crap out of whatever is causing the problem?

I did buy cheap Microsoft laptop cooler but it doesn't seem to do much. Are there any brands you would recommend? I saw in another thread that someone removed the bottom panel from their laptop, should I do this as well when using cooler?

For anyone who has experience with this issue, or has an idea of what I could do just ask. I am positive this involves overheating and not network throttling during a video game which leads to slow downs. (I played an offline game and the problem persisted. Sims 3 [Offline] and Bad Company 2 [Online] both have this issue.)

    Thanks in advance!!

laptops were never engineered with gaming in mind dude.

dont expect your iphone to play crysis anytime soon.

heres what you do. thank me later

    1) buy the 'thermal take massive 23 LX cooler"
    2) remove bottom panel of laptop to allow more airflow
    3) place laptop on cooler, and enjoy gaming without slowdowns

dude if I game without the cooler my gpu temp reaches 100c and slows all games down instantly and is very frustrating, only thing you could do to counter this is apply new thermal paste and undervolt gpu...you will lose 3-5fps but will be able to game without a cooler.

    don't ask me why. I don't know.

laptops are just not meant to game.

    they try..

but to be honest, everyone uses a laptop cooler and removes bottom panel..only way

For anyone who owns a G50Vt-X2 or something similar, is it ok to take the cover off that mesh thing on the bottom of my laptop? It looks like it could be used for a secondary exhaust but there is a giant thick film covering it.

Sorry about all the questions. I can mod the crap outta a desktop, but laptops intimidate me! Haha.

and this is an overheating issue
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/asus-gaming-notebook-forum/516938-asus-g50vt-x-5-help-please.html

I was playing MOH beta 2 days ago and my lappy shut down due to overheating, I restarted the computer and raised the back and I played for 2 hours straight on (mostly)medium/(few)high options... but a terrible game

Try this (raising the back) before going excessively with coolers and what not. The cooling from Microsoft could actually make it worse... how? because it would blow the hot air in that is under your laptop, or it would blow the cool air out... all in all these cheap coolers do nothing more than act as a stand.

    What are you temps?

its hard to say what is going on unless you measure your temperatures.

get something like HWMonitor or GPU-Z and then run Furmark and then post back your numbers/time to those numbers.

my G50VT-X1 will max out at 92C with furmark after about 4 minutes of running..

Is your fan kicking in? Mine had an issue where the fan was not engaging when it got to a certain temparture (the RMA replaced the motherboard which seemed to fix it)
