    Hello everyone !

It seems that i have a kinda annoying problem with my laptop : the " soft " part that cover the all top of the laptop is leaving :(

The laptop never get a single shot , never fall etc. , only move 2-3 times in the Targus ROG branded bag that came with it ... Seems to come from that bag.

Anybody having the " soft paint " ( on the top of it , sorry i dunno the word for it , it's like a paint with a "gum" aspect , same as palmrest ) getting " damaged " ? :(

This is definitely not supposed to happen. It will get scratches and all, but it took almost two years for some of the corners of my G73 to have the paint wear out and that is very minor and completely normal considering my laptop gets moved around a lot.

You could call Asus and they'll replace the part.

That's what i thought , but it also happens only in the corner , and it's also minor , but enough to anger me for a 1400€ laptop , as my M11X travel in my bag for school EVERY day and do not have a single scratch. This one moves 3 times for 15 min by car in the official bag and gets wear.

The problem is , from what i read , Asus is far from being " D+1 " , now that this laptop is my main gaming gear , i will not wait 6 weeks just to change the paint ... impossible :(

Should i call them and get anger ? This will not give me a brand new unit in a day right ? :/

What's anger me the most is that i would have plan to sell this laptop in a near future , and that will make people think " oh god that guy didn't even took care of his laptop " , wich is in my case the far opposite , i never drink anything near the laptop , never put a can on the desk where it is ,always wash my hands after eating not to get it dirty , take 5 minutes to put it in the bag properly not to damage it etc ... :(

Asus customer service has be almost flawless for me. Of course i can't speak for everyone and there are some horror stories here. From my personal experience, every notebook problem i had was fixed within a week no questions asked. You may or may not be able to get Asus to recognize the problem, but it shouldn't be happening after only a few months, i mean i carry my G73 with me to uni and it took quite a while to get the paint to flake.

Even more annoying i don't even bring it with me everyday ... ( i sure save a few pains to my back and shoulders )

Thanks for your answer , i'll probably wait until something worse happen , or at least an exam week or something , i won't send my unit near SWTOR out and christmas holiday i've been waiting for so long ^^

    Sure i do !

    Here's the pictures :

    ImageShack Album - 3 images

Each picture is a corner wich is " damaged "

As you can see , it's not that terrible , but i still feel annoyed to have that kind of damage on so called high quality laptop than i take care more than my eyes ( the keyboard already feels crap , now the painting )

    Hope this help :)

It looks like wear and tear condition to me. The "sticker" looks like peeling on its own but i'm not sure of G74SX cover as I only owns a G53SX and its plastic practically.

I would agree if the laptop has only been move 3 times , in the official bag , by car.

I would have it for years , taking it with me everytime while walkin , in the bus , etc .. , but no ! I just put it 3 time in this bag and just carry it for like 15 min lay at the back of the car ...

A laptop , wich is , by definition , portable , should not have " wear and tear " after only 3 travels...

Anyone seen a problem like this with a G-53?
