I am the proud owner of the Asus G73SW (The best buy model).

It does a great job running games, but when i unplug the laptop, the performance basically cuts in half. Many games that run beautifully instantly become unplayable.

    Is this normal?

I have it set to high performance, same setting as when its plugged in.

I was wondering if there was a way to keep my laptop running at full speed, even if it drains the battery quicker.

    Thanks everyone!

Yes...that's why you never play on battery. It not only kills performance but your battery life is probably a fifth of what it normally is.

Even with horrible battery life, is there any way to keep performance up for games?

I would like to be able to game normally for while i adjust in bed or poop.

Your games still will runs in battery mode, but not at 60fps. Games will run stutter and you will kill your battery half life.

And yes, the performance drop is normal.

BTW, if you want to play on your bed... get this!!!

You would have to disable PowerMizer in the nvidia drivers via Registry editing. If you google this, you should be able to find a few threads on the matter.
