    Hi guys,

I have been searching a lot for a gaming laptop. here in the UK we haven't got a lot of choices except alienware. finally found couple of G53 on ebay. i did read many forums and threads about the comparison of G53SX-XN1 and G53SW-A1. what i have understood, G53SW-A1 is better than G53SX-XN1. whatever i bought G53SX-XN1 which has got 500gb HDD and 8gb ram. i am just extremely excited and counting the day to see it, but i dont know when will it arrive in here.

could someone tell me something about this machine (G53SX-XN1). like what is the Windows Experience Index, and 3D Banchmark06? how it is for high end gaming, etc etc....

The G53SW is not necessarily better it just comes with a bit more graphical oompf because of its higher clocks and more memory bandwidth due to its larger bus width. We are talking more frames per second and slightly higher settings when gaming but not a big enough margin for you not to go for the model you desire.

I personally really like the 53 models and they are really good size, if I didn't have my netbook and only play Football Manager when travelling I would probably have got one.

In terms of performance it should run the latest games comfortably, you may need to stick to medium - high settings instead of ultra if you intend to game at 1080p but you should be able to overclock it quite nicely and your temps will be very nice indeed.

Comparing it to your current model you will see a vast increase in performance, you are moving upto a 2nd Gen CPU along with a fast GDDR5 graphics card when you currently have a quite old low-mid range GPU with half the memory speed running GDDR3. Your current GPU sits at the low end of the class 2 GPU's and if I compare that to my 8700M GT in SLI which is sitting a few rows above it and ran like a dog with 3 legs you will be quite shocked at the difference in performance you are going to get by moving into the mid section of class 1 high end. I notice you get 6800 points in 3DMark06 at the moment well add 10000 more pts to it and that is pretty much what you will see with your new model ;)

You wont be disappointed, along with its looks and features and the fact you are going from a very low resolution to 1080p it should do you nicely. Its a tough life buying a gaming laptop in the UK I feel your pain.

Its the same GPU just most of the posts with the information are for the G74-BBK7

Hi Yiddo, Thank you so much for your quick reply and nice explanation. I really do appreciate. but the thing is, personally i do not like full hd (1920 x 1080) screen as the fonts and icons size get two small by the native settings. i know i can increase the size but i always prefer to keep the native settings which seems to be the best

looking forward to seeing my machine.

You welcome, added a bit more information to my post hope it helps.

I am sure someone with the model will comment also so check back but there are not a lot of posts about the G53SX so when you get it feel free to do a review and post up some benchmarks :D

Especially as you will have 3DMark11 available to you now which your current GPU would have been unable to run ;)

Advice from a geek, forget about vista and xp, windows 7 is so much better in all aspects if you have the hardware to run it. You will have all the drivers for win 7 and you could find the ones for vista too. Good luck getting some drivers for xp though.

Vista makes me puke anger and XP has no DX11 support.

Windows 7 is the way until Windows 8 drops!

Yeah me too :( really crappy that they pulled that from 7 that was an awesome feature.

You can tweak Windows 7 to do something similiar but it is not as good.

You do have deskscapes software which does the same thing dunno how good it is though.

But have you tried it? it does not work as well as the Vista built in version and if anything it is a hinderence to get working properly. I got fed up and gave up.
