Ok right now im in tenth grade about to go to eleventh grade and my school is a joke so im going to take post secondary next year to get some college experience early and i need a labtop and i want a laptop for school and personal use so i want a gaming laptop and my friends said asus is the best for laptops so that is what i want but all i see is alot of problems with asus laptops so should i buy one or look at a different brand.
Im looking for a laptop that:
Has full 1080 hd resolution
Has intel 7 processors
Also good hard drive space and RAM
I want a HDMI port too.
I just want some expert advice on what to get it will be my first laptop and i want it to last for awhile.
I was thinking about getting the ASUS G73SW-XA1 Republic of Gamers 17.3-Inch Gaming Laptop off of amazon. Link: Amazon.com: ASUS G73SW-XA1 Republic of Gamers 17.3-Inch Gaming Laptop (Black): Computer & Accessories
-
Newegg.com - ASUS G Series G73SW-XN2 Notebook Intel Core i7 2630QM(2.00GHz) 17.3" 8GB Memory DDR3 1333 500GB HDD 7200rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M
Also, it's "laptop", not labtopIt goes on top of your lap.
-
So in your experience does that model seem to be reliable or not im not up to date with newer computer or laptops
-
G73 serie rocks, but you should consider its weight, as every 17" laptop.
-
One thing does all of asus laptops have the sandy bridge problem fixed or is it still there.
-
Sandy bridge should be fixed, just make sure if you purchase from Amazon that it has the certified sticker when you open it up.
Another option as a student is starting today MS is giving away a free Xbox 360 when you buy a laptop from Best Buy (check stores for details, i think you show a student ID or use a .edu email). So you can check out the Asus G73SW BST8 at Best Buy and see if that will work for you. It comes with a bluray player as well compared to the Newegg spec above, and you can always sell the xbox console if you don't need it. -
only thing with bestbuy is you cant buy it from them anymore
-
I wouldn't recommend the Best Buy version, it has a gimped graphics card with reduced performance (1GB VRAM and 128bit bus instead of 1,5GB and 192bit).
-
Totally recommend the XN2, it's the cheapest SW, while having no draw backs since you still get a 1080p screen, reg 192bit gpu, etc etc.
-
Wow, I paid my JH 1800$ + taxes and with a 400$ warranty -_- about 1 year ago. I didn't want to get it online since I'm a student, so I bought it at a local store (higher prices than online stores), thinking it would be easier in case of problems.
I don't know about the SW, but I could tell you the JH is awesome. If you want it, buy it. -
Can anyone of you tell me if the one from Newegg.com - ASUS G Series G73SW-XN2 Notebook Intel Core i7 2630QM(2.00GHz) 17.3" 8GB Memory DDR3 1333 500GB HDD 7200rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M is with the new sandy bridge processors i mean the one's that done mess up the laptop
-
Yes it's the sandy bridge one
-
I mean is it the one that is fixed since they have fixed the problem or will i have problems with this one.

Alright thanks for your help it seems like it will be a really good laptop.
one more thing is newegg a trustworthy site that if i have any problems they will try to help me fix them. -
Newegg is a fine Authorized retailer. Just read their warranty policy. If you want more personal service, then I would suggest getting it from a Boutique retailer like GenTechPC.
-
Alright thanks chastity for all your help.

FORCE 16F2 / MSI 16F2
almost similar config but cheaper and less bulky
Please help a student decide what laptop to buy>
