I have an asus g50vt-x1 and everytime I plug in my External HardDrive via eSata, the OS freezes for a few seconds (I can't do anything) and then it detects the Hard disk. Is there anyway around this (USB does not do this)? Do I have to install drivers (I installed the eSata drivers from Asus website, but it said something about JMicron device not found).

Also if I leave the eSata device in from bootup BIOS all the way to OS bootup, it would not detect my hard disk, neither USB nor eSata, what's up with that?

What HDD drivers are you using? I was using some old Intel Matrix drivers and the same thing happened.

I'm not really sure where to check, but the install file gave me version 1.0.2.0

Are there newer drivers out there?

    e:

I'm using the intel matrix drivers V8.9.2.1002

That sucks man, I'm using a 1TB drive, for you I'd guess you would rather have the small hitch then not be able use the 1.5tb...

As of this moment I'm using IRST 9.6.0.1014, from Station Drivers. Try them out.

That shouldn't be the eSATA's fault. The enclosure you're using probably doesn't support anything above 1.5TB. I have an Antec MX-1 enclosure with a 2TB WD Green and a Rosewill enclosure with a 1TB WD Green, and both work just fine in plug-and-play.

that is what i thought at first, so i decided to get another enclosure.

still cant be detected too, weird thing is when using the usb, it is working fine. so in the end i get another expresscard esata silicon, everything working fine since then.
